The thing that fascinates me about janky RPG Maker horror games is that there's a specific level of jank that invites audience participation. Many well-regarded examples of the type do not actually achieve their intended experiences of play, but they get close enough that that experience can be constructed with active player buy-in. As a player you can of course break any game by going out of your way to refuse to cooperate, but when you're put in the position of needing to go out of your way not to break the game, you become a sort of co-author in a way that games which are actually functional typically don't permit.

There's a certain satisfaction in being able to clearly see that the scenery is made of cardboard and taking special care not to tip it over because you're genuinely curious where the game's author is going with this.

I think part of getting better is complete ego death. Like you’re not above setting a timer for 5 minutes and focusing on a task. You’re not above doing a very simple 3 minute workout to start. You’re not above reading for 10 minutes a day when you first get out of your reading slump, even if you used to read for hours. You’re not above starting slow and then building up to where you want to be/where you once were. What you are above is total inertia. Doing something really is better than doing nothing. Radically accept where you are, radically accept your limits, and go from there. Don’t let your ego get in the way.

one of the best things about commie utopia would be that your incompetent coworker could be fired without ruining their life...I spent like 6 extra months with a coworker who fucked everything up constantly because our boss didn't want him to lose his visa and in an ideal world you could be just kind of bad at things without that being grounds for deportation y'know

One argument about UBI I like to make to people is to think of the most unbearable coworker they've ever had, or the worst customer experience they've ever had, and consider whether the world wouldn't actually be a better place if some people simply did not work

i understand that it's unreasonable to expect a band on world tour to play in every country in the world but i do think they should only be allowed to call it a world tour if they play in every continent. we need to make it embarrassing to say world tour and then not even step foot in africa
