Franz Kafka, 1912
People say about Gen AI ''well its going to be basically in every game in the next few years so get used to it" like, no... do you have any idea how stubborn I am? I will never play another new game in MY LIFE if that is the case. There are plenty of old ones I missed. "Oh what about books and TV?" SAME. I do not care. I will stop consuming new media forever if GenAI is going to be in everything.
Yes, This is absolutely the hill I will die on (AND WE WILL ALL DIE ON IF COMPANIES DONT STOP PUSHING AI AND BUILDING FUCKING DATA CENTERS EVERYHERE FUCK)
i finished assassin's quest yesterday night and that was such a long journey. this book definitely made me more emotional with all fitz suffering and adventure with his little group to find verity.
royal assassin is my fav out of farseer trilogy, but i also really love this and the first book. all i can say is robin hobb is really good storryteller.
the only thing that i kinda dislike from this book is the ending. after all the pain and suffering, i don't feel like fitz got the ending he deserved. this man saved the world, and people didn't know him except he was a bastard of abdicated king in waiting and that was really upsetting.
but other than that, everything is perfect. the slow burn is really burning me, from the first to the last book of the trilogy.
also big appreciation for the illustrator. i love all the illustrations they are so beautiful
abandoning this universe cuz i got hooked in c-novel land lol
The Sang siblings honestly make me emotional cause they're both the biggest comfort in their partners' lives. They saw how broken Duan Jiaxu and Wen Yifan were and chose them regardless, treating them with the outmost love and care

my current fav fictional men
habis baca j-lit dengan cover hijau, tapi genre-nya sangat bertolakbelakang. BWFK is magic realism with comforting story, while SP is mystery book.

Love me a foodie who's smart and capable and good friends with the main character without there being any romantic interest in each other whatsoever. ❤️
moonlight mystique is a rarity in dramaland in terms of the master/servant relationship between fan yue and tian huo, like she shows utter determination to do anything for fan yue, recognizes him as her benefactor and protector, yet she clearly doesn't have any romantic feelings for him and I am happy about this.
you can see real respect and even a semblance of pure brotherly/sisterly kind of love between them and I am so glad the creators of this show didn't go down the usual route of "faithful servant harbouring amorous thoughts about her master turns hostile and evil towards the female lead out of jealousy and hatred" for this one. It's such a breath of fresh air to see this, at least for me.
I realized I never posted these chibi commissions outside of my LGIEF/IY rec post. You can find Sparky, the artist's, twt account here.
The first set of chibis is Inuyasha and Kagome dressed as Ling Miaomiao and Mu Ziqi from the Chinese Drama Love Game in Eastern Fantasy. The second set is Ling Miaomiao and Mu Ziqi dressed as Inuyasha and Kagome. ♥
Love Game is Eastern Fantasy works so well (for me at least) is because while there are several other cdrama fantasies addressing similar themes with transmigration tropes, the writing here is actually pretty solid. Like, there is proper logical progression of things, and I can tell they put some thought behind the plot and didn't just fill pages, solely relying on the leads' acting and their chemistry to carry subpar writing/execution *cough* ofl *cough*
Things such as Miaomiao's backstory with her dad, foreshadowing scenes that don't feel casually slapped together, absence of irrelevant romantic scenes just to fill screentime (which is why I really appreciate whatever scenes we get of Miaomiao and Ziqi), giving each main character a proper arc instead of having them behave like NPCs, being consistent with the rules of the gaming world we're introduced to, not lingering on silly misunderstandings, actually resolving smaller issues and conflicts before moving on to bigger ones, not forgetting about an open plot point after a while, effectively keeping up the suspense and compelling the audience to second-guess and theorize what's to happen (very tricky to pull off imo when you're airing episodes daily), showing gradual development of romance between the two couples, utilizing talented actors who seem to have a solid understanding of the motivations, nuances and overall pulse of the characters they play. There are many other things too, like the incredible acting skills Ding Yuxi and Yu Shuxin bring along with the natural chemistry they have off-screen that translates so well on screen, as well as the fact that they make Ziqi and Miaomiao uniquely theirs, making it a much more enjoyable ride. I learned recently that there were several scriptwriters for this, with the main scriptwriter being the same person who wrote for LBFAD (correct me if I'm wrong though)--that might explain why I like this writing so much, even though it deviates from the og web novel.
Even the final episodes (where most cdrama fantasies often mess up, especially with isekai/transmigration tropes) go above and beyond tying up ALL the loose ends and connecting every clue every foreshadowing every disjointed bits of information that we see throughout the show, ultimately creating this beautiful beautiful piece of art that is LGIEF.
And that final statement from Fu Zhou? Ugh I love how they conveyed that idea.
Hands down my favorite cdrama after LBFAD.
