Why was she doing this again? It definitely wasn't about A-ya. Maybe she was just trying to gain C-ta's trust.

She frowned, fuming silently to herself.

D-ne sat there, continuing to fidget around nervously, and could only look at B-ko from the corner of her eye. She hates me, she hates me, i should never have said anything, I should have just stayed quiet, I ruined everything…I broke my only happiness with my own hands…

Wait a minute… D-ne’s angry chain of thought stopped dead in its tracks as she noticed B-ko’s blush. How could she not notice something like that at a time like this? What did it mean? How did B-ko feel right now? Was it really because…no, no don’t get your hopes up too high…that hasn’t worked in the past…

Her nerves were still on edge and only by avoiding direct eye-contact was D-ne barely able to stammer out a reply. “Uh…y…you could say…uh…who you like? Ahahaha, I mean…that is, if there is someone? Uh…No need to do it anytime soon! Hahaha…I mean…you’re so popular…so…you could have anyone you asked for…and you’re probably used…to things like this…confessions and all…ha…ha…”

Her words trailed off into silence and a mess of nervous hiccups. D-ne was trying to downplay just how badly she wanted any sort of answer at all from B-ko. Right now, she was an emotional train wreck, and if B-ko said ‘no’…or ‘just be friends’…it was better than nothing at all, but…it still made her heart hurt. It was like hope and despair were on a scale together and B-ko’s answer would tip it one way or another…

A-ya was trying very hard to keep a handle on his laughter, but it was getting more and more difficult. He felt like he was watching a cheap soap-opera drama, but also that if he intruded too much on the scene in front of him, he would get killed by the two girls…and lose his privilege for watching.

As soon as D-ne spoke, B-ko's blush increased in redness, and she fiddled with her fingers.

She was right, though - B-ko was used to all this confessions and love and all those type of shenanigans - but never from her own friends.

"I, uh…I do like someone." she admitted, but she didn't entirely think she wanted to tell D-ne, or A-ya for God's sake. "But uh…I…"

Lost for words, B-ko trailed into silence as she tries to make sense of what she was saying. She flushed again, her fingers twirling circles.

The moment the lecture ended, C-ta packed up his stuff as casually as possible, hoping that B-ko would have forgotten or that maybe she would get dragged off by one of her many “girlfriends”.

Though was not to be; for she immediately pulled him right out into the hallways. Man…she was a lot stronger than he thought.

"Geez…" he mumbled. "Hm…if he’s not still stuck in his classes…he could be at the library…or the old school house…if not, he’s at home."

D-ne opened her mouth in an attempt to say, ‘You’re welcome, B-ko,’ but all that came out was a mass of nervous hiccups. Every single word she tried to say became a mass of hiccups and disjointed syllables. Becoming more and more flustered with her inability to speak, D-ne, after a few seconds of this, just gave up and started giggling at herself…

A-ya stared at her, since she was being so noisy and acting so downright weird. He then shifted his gaze from D-ne to B-ko, saying, “I think you have a bad effect on her, B-ko…”

This was normal. At least, to her.

When the other girl started hiccuping and giggling, B-ko frowned, pushing the candy further through her mouth.

When A-ya spoke, she bit down on the candy violently, causing it to break off in her mouth.

She nearly coughed, but caught herself in time and swallowed the candy.

"W-What do you mean, A-ya?"

Where was A-ya? This was one of those rare instances in which C-ta didn’t actually know the answer to that question. Was he still in classes? Or had he fallen ill?

"Well…I walk to school with A-ya nearly every morning…I know I did today."

"Our classes aren’t the same but I did get to see him at lunch…after that, I’m not entirely sure…"
