More Acey less Racy, Overwatch style!

But anyway, I’m not dead. I’ve been dealt some serious life upheavals though that have occupied me for several months. I’ve moved cities, moved out, changed jobs, switched to full time that often involves overtime, lost a lot of friends because I’m no longer convenient to see, started making a good friend and potentially lost them, and a few other things on top of that and on top of the issues that happened last May.

It’s left me feeling burned out, not good enough, unloved, and isolated.

Which turned me back to these blogs. These were always about me finding a way to love and support people, and I thought it would be a good place to try and learn to love and support myself. So I’m coming back.

I need to re-immerse myself into the worlds, and I’m afraid I’m still missing some movies/lore, but I want to get these running again. It may not work, and I’m not sure how my mental health will hold up in the coming weeks, but I’m going to try.

Hey, are you ok? I really suggest that you (or anyone) call a hotline if you’re in any kind of distress like that. They can help. 

But here’s some comfort stuff (tw for suicide attempt of course), and I really hope you’re doing alright.

D.Va:

Gets help quickly and calmly. No extra fuss, she just gets her s/o medical help to make sure they’re taken care of. 

Acts like she’s totally under control but she grips the side of her s/o’s bed so hard her hands lose all colour.

“Hey, we need to get you help, ok?” D.Va is leaning on their bed, and she looks serious. “I was really scared, your life has so much value, you know? And not just to me.”

Uses her fame to bring better awareness to mental health and suicide, while fiercely protecting her s/o’s reputation so no one ever knows unless her s/o is the one to bring it up.

Tracer:

Blinks across the base to tell Mercy, and is basically incoherent because she’s so concerned about what kind of damage her s/o may have done to themselves, and blinks back so she doesn’t leave her s/o’s side for a millisecond longer than necessary. She contacts only the people she thinks need to know.

She’s trying so hard not to freak out and is being brave for her s/o because she doesn’t want to distress them. She hugs them as soon as she can like she’ll never let go.

“Why?” She asks, almost crying. “Why would you…? We’re going to fix this, okay? You’re going to get better, love, and we’re going to help you. I promise!”

She lets them know that she still loves them, and that she just wants them to be better.

Zarya:

Calmly gets her s/o the medical attention they need, carrying them to the infirmary if need be.

Only once they’re cared for does she really show how scared she was. She has to take deep, slow, breaths to keep cool, and she keeps putting her hand over her s/o’s wrist or heart to feel their pulse.

“We will get you help.” She nods, firm. “When you are well, we will get you help.”

They are! (Sorry, I didn’t get notified for this ask).

You waited for Gabriel in the little alcove that he had designated as your space, happy to be out of sight and undisturbed. Whether it was just the threat of Gabriel’s anger if anyone intruded that kept people out, or if he had put traps around it, you didn’t know. All you knew was that it was the one guaranteed private place you had in the base, and the one private place that you had with him.

The lumpy package in your hands was actually a bit heavy, and you placed it on the table after a minute. Gabriel had told you he would be back about half an hour ago, and you had been waiting for him since. You weren’t worried about him yet, but you had been holding his gift for the entire time and your arms were getting tired.

Just as you went to sit on the couch squashed against the far wall, the door beeped and Gabriel walked through. You jumped up, forgetting about the package as you ran forward to hug him.

“Careful, (Name). You’ll get blood on you.” Gabriel hugged you tightly, regardless of his warning, and let you unhook his mask. 

He looked tired, and you noticed that he did have a fair bit of blood on him.

“Are you-?” You started to ask, but he waved his hand and cut you off.

“I’m fine.” He glanced away from you, and his attention was caught by the paper-wrapped lump on the table. “What’s that?”

You blushed, even though you were disappointed that Gabriel had avoided confiding in you. Again. But you squeezed passed him and picked up the package, and held it out. At the very least, you hoped it would help him see how much you loved him. 

“What is it?” He asked again, taking it from you and weighing it in his palms. You could see him trying to guess what it was, and smiled.

“It’s a present. I made it for you.”

Gabriel’s eyebrows rose marginally and his handling of the package became more respectful. Still, he made short work of the wrapping, and as it fell to the floor his eyebrows rose a little bit higher. He clearly had not been expecting what you had made.

And he also looked like he might be blushing. 

You weren’t entirely sure because his cheeks weren’t changing colour, but his expression spoke volumes. Which was quite the thing in itself, since he was usually about as expressive as the mask who wore around everyone else. 

“It’s a scarf.” He carefully unwound the length of knitted black yarn that you had worked painstakingly over for weeks, smoothing his gun-rough hands over the pattern with care.

“Yeah. It’s getting colder, so I thought…” You trailed off when it occurred to you that he might not even feel the cold.

Before you could continue that thought, Gabriel wrapped the scarf around himself, tying it neatly at the neck in a knot that you would have to ask him to teach you. The way he arranged it made it seem like it was half the size of the bulky thing you had originally handed him, and it looked like it was meant to be a part of his gear.

“Thank you,” he said and he kissed you once, briefly, “it’s perfect.”

Blood had gotten on it already, but you knew he would wash it out with care. Just like you knew he would wear it for the rest of the winter, and no one would dare say a thing. 

And that made it a little easier to forgive him for keeping secrets from you still. He loved you, and that was what mattered.

Soldier 76 proposing to civilian s/o:

He meets up with him in plain clothes at their home. He doesn’t want to hide behind his visor even though it would make things easier.

He’s so nervous. He feels vulnerable by making such a plain admission he cares for his s/o, especially since he’s not part of Overwatch and might get hurt.

Jack buys a ring (he’s old fashioned like that) to propose with. He makes sure it’s a design that his s/o will like.

After dithering around for a while, Jack gets down slowly on one knee in front of his s/o. He gruffly tells his s/o how much he loves him, and how he’s decided that the love outweighs the risks and he wants to be with him forever. It’s not elegant, but it’s heartfelt.

 “Look, I’m not…I’m not a young man anymore. And if you don’t want me, that’s fine. I’m not sure I want me. But I want you. I… I love you. You know the dangers considering how we met, and I swear I’d never willingly let you be hurt. But things happen. If you…If you’re okay with that though, I’d really like you to marry me.”

Gabriel:

He takes his s/o somewhere secure and private. It’s not a romantic location, but it’s a safe one.

He’s doesn’t give them much warning either. He just shows up and says he needs to talk to them somewhere where they won’t be overheard.

Gabriel takes off his mask once he’s made absolutely sure they’re safe. As soon as he does, he takes his s/o’s hands in his and tells him his intentions.

It’s short and to the point, Gabriel has already thought about it for months before he made the decision to ask. 

Alrighty c:

Reaper with an anthro bird s/o:

He finds their physiology fascinating. Their wings shouldn’t be capable of flight, yet they are, and how do they talk? He finds it really interesting.

Mind you, if anyone shows even a hint of wanting to run experiments or tests on his s/o, Reaper will make it clear that any attempt to do so will end with the person dead or maimed. He won’t allow anyone to experiment on someone he cares for.

He has a uniform made up for them that masks their anthro qualities if they go on missions with him, so they can have some sort of anonymity when off duty.

Incorporates more bird-like features into his suit. Strongly denies it has anything to do with his s/o.

Torbjörn with bff:

Torb loves to show his bff how to fix things and constantly gives them new tools (after having first bought them a toolkit with their name stamped in it).

He always suggests they do matching costumes for Halloween. They have photos from every year that Mercy took for them.

Tracer:

Tracer loves hanging out with her bff and showing them the sights of places! She’s been so many places that she enjoys showing them the neat things she’s seen/found.

She constantly asks if they want to race her somewhere. If they agree, she won’t use her blink ability and will race them honestly. She’s still really fast.

Winston:

He’s perfectly content to hang out in the same room with his bff as they both work on their own projects. If they’re the type who likes to listen to music as they work, he’ll have Athena compile playlists they both like.

Hey, I would really prefer if you guys could keep requests to 3 characters or under, so I’m just doing the first 3 for this one.

Genji with a s/o who has vertigo:

He does his best to keep them away from areas that would trigger their vertigo in the first place, but offers them his visor to wear if they have to go somewhere with ledges/glass floors.

Asks Angela for advice on how to best deal with his s/o’s condition.

Lucio: 

He always walks on the side closest to the ledges if they have to go by them, and holds his s/o’s hand.

If they have to walk over glass floors, Lucio will play his s/o’s favourite music to try and distract them and he’ll get them to a safe area as soon as he can.

McCree:

Offers to give his s/o a piggyback ride if they’re in an area that would cause his s/o vertigo, so they can close their eyes and rely on him.

Sure!

Mercy with a s/o who sings well:

The first time she hears them singing she doesn’t realize it’s them, and asks her s/o what artist was doing the cover of the song she just heard, because it was lovely. When her s/o gets embarrassed, Mercy realizes it was her s/o singing.

Mercy almost cries whenever her s/o sings old Christmas songs. If they learn how to sing them in German, she does cry.

She asks her s/o for a recording of them singing, to listen to when she’s stressed or if they have to be apart for a long time.

Sometimes when her s/o starts singing, Mercy forgets to work, and will stare at her paperwork with a soft smile.

Hahaha I’ve never heard that term; I love it. Alrighty!

Pharah with a s/o who is a ‘cat lord’:

At first, Pharah just thinks the areas they have their missions in just have a lot of friendly strays, and thinks it’s sweet that her s/o is so kind to them. However, when she one day goes to pet one and it shies away, she realizes that’s not the case.

She thinks its adorable how her s/o can charm every cat they meet effortlessly, and has taken more than a few covert photos of her s/o snuggling kittens and such.

Jokingly accuses her s/o of carrying cat treats in all their pockets whenever they get followed by random cats just because her s/o said hi to it.

Has to firmly deny her s/o when they try to adopt half the cats they see. Sometimes her s/o is so emotional and the cat is so sincerely in need that Pharah caves, and she and her s/o end up with a few cats that take over the Overwatch base.
