Ace Relations

As an asexual, I am not sorry. 

I am not sorry that we need the same resources as anyone else of the LGBTQIA+ community. That we need a safe space.

The A is there for a fucking reason. It stands for ace/aro. 

Asexuals and aromantics aren’t always straight. 

We face acephobia and arophobia all the time, even within the LGBT+ community, even here on tumblr. We’re told we’re broken or in a phase. Some asexual people go through corrective rape. We’re told we don’t belong in the LGBT+ community by other LGBT+ people. We’re told we don’t belong in the cishet community by cishets. 

I was once told that asexuality is a mental disorder. I was once told that sex is life and therefore life is not within me. 

Asexuality is not a mental disorder. Neither is being aromantic. They’re just different romantic and sexual orientations. I don’t see why it’s so difficult for some to understand that we ARE LGBT+ as well.

Ace positivity =/= Homophobia!!!

Viewing Artemis as asexual =/= Not taking her away from lesbians. She wasn’t proven to be either, no matter what you say. It’s alright to see her as a lesbian, and it’s alright to see her as asexual or bi. No one is saying “Oh, she belongs to the aces now! No one else can have her!” What is being said is that “I can relate to her on wanting to abstain from sex, but it is perfectly alright if someone sees her as a lesbian, as long as they do not send me sexually-explicit images of Artemis having sex with another woman because I am sex repulsed”

That has NOTHING to do the with the sexualization of lesbians. If someone sent @searchingforartemis an explicit image of Artemis having straight sex, she would still be triggered. It just hasn’t happened because some people decided to blow things way out of proportion to earn brownie points on the SJW side of tumblr. 

Honestly, y’all just need to leave Ophelia alone. She has done nothing to hurt anyone, and yet you exclusionists find it appropriate to send her death threats and harass her until she is forced to block you for the good of her mental health.

And a side note for people that are exclusionists in general: you say you don’t want your oppressors in your group? What about the biphobic gays and lesbians? What about the TERFs that are lesbians? What about the non-binary people that are in the same place as people that are cis? Think through your arguments before you spew baseless arguments such as that.

Your feminism excludes trans people and you fully support gender roles and stereotypes.

You don’t accept nonbinary people or think they’re fake.

You don’t accept asexuals and aromantics in the LGBT+ community.

You think asexuals/aromantics are all “cishets” or if you think they’re not real.

You mock fat people and make jokes about them.

You think asexuals aren’t LGBT+ just because they don’t “suffer as much as other people do” because you think being LGBT+ must be like an opression competition, where you’re only valid if you “have suffered enough” in your life.

You discriminate people because of their skin color.

You have anything against people from South America.

You don’t respect pagan religions and think witchcraft is evil.

You don’t respect sex workers.

You think depression, anxiety and other mental illnessess are just simple things.

You romanticize abusive relationships.

You hate children (not wanting to have kids is different from saying you hate them).

You think climate change is a myth.

You’re biphobic/panphobic.

You put pineapple on your pizza (EDIT: just kidding about this one, guys, sorry!)
