But I also know from personal experience, as an artist who mostly draws lesbians, that bigots will just project whatever they feel like onto your art and claim it as fact.

The thing with bigots is that they engage with art where they just assume everything is made for them and their ideology. Which is why they’re extremely hostile to queer/feminist art that’s more overt and unapologetic about its themes.

I vividly remembered dealing with a ton of homophobic straight men throwing a fit and insisting that my lesbian art was made for THEM. The concept of something made with a queer audience in mind didn’t even cross their mind.

So a while ago, I saw someone use this template from Twitter for their ship, & I wanted to try it for myself for my main oc x canon ship in my Fusionfall AU.

@aceofcards0715 helped me with Demongo’s illustrations. He’s so talented… Y’all should go give him some love!

Dems was definitely fighting demons to stop himself from laughing when he saw Damien’s work, I can tell you that. Like he could barely fucking compose himself as he tried lying through his four fanged teeth about how amazing Damien’s artistic abilities were. Damien could tell, but he doesn’t really care. He just finds it sweet how hard Dems was trying to not make the bigger fella feel bad.

YOUR DEIMOS! I saw it and once and now you’re ALL over my madcom search ques! It was so fire and on top of it I thought it was really cool that we have similar design philosophy. Plus it helped me feel a bit better in my own body as an afab person (though I still plan on going through with transitioning and affirming care).

WHAATT 😭😭 I remember being very nervous to post my Deimos design when it changed in late December to what it is now bc I never saw ppl drawing Deimos fem, I’m surprised to see ppl liking it so much lately and I feel so appreciative about it, especially since madcom has been my favorite thing for 6 years. Yo I’m so glad we’re twinning about Deimos design thoughts

It’s so funny about the gender stuff because me too bro. I wanted Deimos to look very feminine + half top surgery in relation to personally my own queer identity and also bc imo uhmm more of the crew should look like or be girls! (I’ve made Sanford into a girl too. But Deimos is a girlboy/boygirl who uses he/she but mainly he/him)

I feel so happy to see someone feels comfortable seeing Deimos as he looks for themself, especially since I’m also afab as well. I even actually plan on getting the exact top surgery that Deimos has.

I plan on drawing more interactions because since it’s madness combat, a world where gender doesn’t even really exist, Deimos is socially interacted with as anybody else. She’s referred to with masc roles like sir/mr, even despite the explicit feminine appearance. And I really really like that about him. It feels euphoric in a way.
