Correction. Dumbledore was horrifically maimed by a cursed ring that was slowly poisoning his body like a chunk of uranium. He basically begged Snape to grant him a mercy killing so that Voldemort couldn’t have true control of the elder wand. The elder wand can only be truly wielded by the one who murdered the previous wielder. If he died from the poison the Tom Riddle would win. And Snape was extra clever. He stole Draco Malfoy’s wand (giving Snape the right to use it), killed Dumbledore, and then more or less allowed Draco to steal the wand back, there by making Malfoy the rightful owner of the elder wand and granting Harry part ownership because he stole and used Draco’s wand. Beautiful plot manipulation on paper but convoluted in practice.
