ALL THAT REMAINS.

    “Oh, thank you for your magnaminity,” she snorted, turning to cross whatever remained of the unfortunate opponents and leave this wretched landscape for good.

    “Perhaps it is for the best. I would hardly be surprise should the house mistress yet remain irate with us for our last ‘visit’. I cannot recall a woman look so cross with me since Mistress Woolsey last scolded me for my courtly decorum…”

     Were there any shame left in her body she’d probably feel it now. Their last trip to the Rose had been . . . unfortunate, to say the least, lucky for Hawke she had no urgent business there currently anyway. 

    “Oh? Fairest Champion, are you intending to whisk me away for a daring, blightless vacation?”

    Her teasing smile accompanies a light laugh, leaning her weight against the silverite staff that accompanied her. It was almost strange how quickly their banter could so starkly outplay their surroundings in situations like this. 

    “It sounds as though you’ve need for one as well, Marian. Though…I would have to trust you to guide me through it. I’d little enough time for such things in Ferelden, but Kirkwall is your territory.”

     “ My ... My territory ? Kirkwall?! ” She almost sounds terrified upon shouting the words. There’s a look of pure horror and disgust on her face, though it doesn’t take a genius to understand her dramatics. Head shakes and something of a smile appears on her face. 

    “I must say, dear cousin, you certainly have an ability to draw a crowd.“

    Something akin to disappointment furrowed her brow as she stared down at the mages at their feet, lifeless in the wake of battle. What a waste came the somber thought before putting the morose contemplations to the side and sending a far more playful smile to Marian. 

    “Not even I have a penchant for crossing so many blood mages.”

     “ Hmm, is that a hint of jealousy? I would gladly teach you, but -- ”

     A gentle nudge with her foot reassuring the bodies are, well, bodies. One could never be too careful anymore, who knew the kind of ritual they performed before death. For all they knew, the duo would soon have to fight a hoard of smelly corpses and it was far too early in the day for that kind of fun.
