I believe that there is a love that moves the sun and the other stars.

The poet Elizabeth Bishop once wrote: ‘the art of losing isn’t hard to master: so many things seem filled with the intent to be lost that their loss is no disaster.’ I’m not a poet, I am a person living with Early Onset Alzheimer’s, and as that person I find myself learning the art of losing every day. Losing my bearings, losing objects, losing sleep, but mostly losing memories…

Marlen is my favorite.
A timeless and sobering reminder that the true measure of power is not how deftly we can assert our authority but how much kindness and compassion we can show others in their greatest moments of vulnerability.

A Woman’s Work is Never Done by Eliza Bennett
"I hope to challenge the pre-conceived notion that 'women's work' is light and easy. Aiming to represent the effects of hard work arising from employment in low paid 'ancillary' jobs, such as cleaning, caring and catering, all traditionally considered to be 'women's work'. Some viewers consider the piece to be a feminist protest, for me it's about human value. After all, there are many men employed in caring, catering, cleaning etc... all jobs traditionally considered to be 'women's work'. Such work is invisible in the larger society, with 'A woman's work' I aim to represent it."
The first smallpox vaccination was tested on James Phipps. He was initially given a small dose of cowpox (blue), which was not lethal to humans. Afterwards, he was given a small dose of smallpox (red) and showed no symptoms of infection. Thus, the smallpox vaccination was developed (and variolation became a thing of the past).

John Conway paints dinosaurs unlike any you’ve ever seen.
(Also pterosaurs, which I just learned about and which are super cool.)
This just in: spiders tune the silk threads of their webs like guitar strings
… and they use the distinct vibrational frequencies to help them locate meals and mates. Hear the full story of these good vibrations, from NPR’s Christopher Joyce, here.

That’s called being colour-brave. How cute is this orange midi on a colour block knit?
Light micrograph of a mouse embryo, approximately 10.5 days post-fertilisation. The specimen was stained with a fluorescent marker that highlights the presence of precursor cells to nerve tissue then chemically treated to make it optically transparent.
