autistic person stuck in a time loop: oh man i sure hope i get out of his time loop (sarcasm) (they are thriving on the steady routine and know the outcome to every interaction) (some loops they just nap without consequence)
While the SAG-AFTRA strike is great news for the future of the industry, and worth celebrating, let's not forget people's livelihoods are on the line and act accordingly.
[image ID: piles of dozens of SAG-AFTRA ON STRIKE! picket signs. end ID]
Union members in the WGA and SAG-AFTRA are making this sacrifice for the very survival of the industry. There's a lot of glee at the strike, which makes total sense because we hope it will ultimately lead to the studios being forced into a position to re-negotiate for a better deal.
But in the midst of all this, please don't forget that there are real people forgoing paychecks and income for the big picture of this strike. And the studios are going to squeeze them as hard as they can, leading to real human suffering.
What can we, as fans and audiences, do to stand in solidarity?
-Be excited about the right things—halting studio production and forcing the studios into a better deal!—and not the wrong things (show cancellations, workers losing jobs—i.e. things that hurt the workers.) The important thing to remember is that the enemy here is the top studio executives, NOT the people who actually labor on your favorite media.
-Correct misinformation and disinformation whenever possible. Don't let anti-WGA propaganda go unanswered. Get your information directly from the WGA and SAG-AFTRA's official channels if possible, or their negotiation committee members. We're always happy to fact check!
-Support financially if at all possible (and if not, boost donations and fundraisers!) Picketers are choosing to participate in a work stoppage that will have immediate and devastating impacts on the most vulnerable low-income TV/film workers. If you see a fundraiser, boost it or donate if you can. Good places to start are the Entertainment Community Fund and the Green Envelope Grocery Aid fund.
-Get involved in fandom-specific action. The biggest fandom impacts we've seen are when fandoms unite together to fundraise or visibly show support. Follow the example of the Star Trek Snack Squad and Our Flag Means Strike to organize YOUR fandom today! Want tips and spreadsheet templates? Message us, we'd be glad to help you organize your fandom!

if i had a nickel for every time a british guy named kit played a bisexual character that ended up being my favourite on a show. i would have two nickels. which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice
Would legitimately be happy with Kitty ending up with anyone on the show. Like all of them. I do however think a love-triangle between Min Ho and Yuri would be the most chaotic thing ever though. I’m just saying.
“Is it like Korean thanksgiving?”
“Yes minus the genocide”
Yuri as my favorite character
can’t wait for these min ho fics bro

just finished xo, kitty and am waiting for Min Ho fanfics
They straightbaited me and I've never been more grateful 😭😭😭
minho rlly waited for kitty to say she and dae broke up and immediately confessed his feelings on an 11 hr flight sitting BESIDE her??? he ate im afraid.
the marketing for xo kitty being ridiculously heteronormative and then the show being extremely gay is so funny
look this is gonna be a hard to swallow pill for the pjo fandom,
but the sun and the star is coming out at a really important time in the USA -- homophobia is on the rise, books like this are being restricted, and policies are being debated and passed to exterminate queer and trans people from the public sphere. having a positive example of a queer relationship in fiction, especially as part of a mega-popular middle grade series, is going to be important to a lot of the queer 10-14 year olds that make up this book's main demographic.
i have never, ever seen a percy jackson book have such a negative reception online. and it's just a coincidence that this is the first queer-focused installment of the series?
people are seeing the extent of the hate and thinking they shouldn't bother reading tsats at all, that they have already heard enough from people who hate the book. I have had people reblog my positive posts and say "maybe i'll give this book a chance, this is the first nice post i've seen about it." that's really fucking sad yall.
maybe tsats wasn't what you expected, maybe it contradicted your headcanons, maybe you prefer ships other than solangelo. you don't have to like tsats. but the amount of vocal hate for it is ridiculous. other pjo books do not get this kind of hate -- picking apart and complaining about every tiny little detail, ridiculing the writing style of both authors, mocking the attempts at sincerity, even sometimes mocking people who did like the book.
i have never seen this harsh of a response before (and i'm old -- I've been a percy jackson reader since the lightning thief came out in 2005) and especially not from such large portions of the fandom to the point where people who haven't read it are feeling discouraged from doing so.
Please look at the big picture. your opinions don't exist in a vacuum. maybe this is a hot take, but at some point the hate is indistinguishable from how homophobes talk about queer fiction. i'm just saying there are better things to turn your anger towards, and if you hated this book so much just do what the rest of us do and write fucking fanfiction to make yourself feel better. fucks sake
I had no idea about this and I will now take it upon me to write a goddamn essay about why tsats is a good book but for now here's why you should read it:
1. It's Nico. If you love the series you love him. You know all the shit he's been through. This is the chance to go on an adventure with him. Haven't you missed him as much as I did?
2. I'm an editor in training, and I swear, the technical abilities at display in this are ridiculous. If you can't see it, you're just not qualified enough. So shut up about the authors.
3. It's obviously all an excuse for character development. The PJ world didn't need this story, Nico did. As a character I mean. There was much unresolved for him and he deserved all that to be unpacked. We deserved to see him unpack it, not just imagine it. He's such a complex character, one of my favorite ever, and I for one deserved to read this.
4. They are cute. Okay? Solangelo are cute. I loved how much they hold hands and kiss each other's foreheads. Percabeth never was this sappy and it's correct: they just aren't like this. They were different people with a different relationship.
5. The book depicts not a perfect, doubtless relationship such as Percabeth, but one made of people with different pasts and struggles, who learn to be a couple. This is new to the Riordanverse. The focus isn't on the adventure, it's on the relationship. Maybe y'all should consider the intent before judging.

SPOILERS AHEAD
So, I finished reading 'The Sun and The Star' this afternoon and it's night now. I really loved it, and I've been processing and reading some tumblr reviews and I have to say, some of you are not being fair to this book, or it's characters (mainly Will)
I feel like some of you are very fucking judgemental towards a fifteen year old who's trying very hard to be there for his boyfriend but very much out of his element. Like, people are calling Will whiney for actually expressing his feelings when he's not feeling good. Even though the specific advise they were given is that you have to keep each other sane, a.k.a. trust each other and take care of each other. Hiding how you're feeling in a place that quite literally seems to get worse the worse you feel, is not heroic, it's stupid.
Then there's the people who think Will is too judgemental towards the underworld, which is fair, but seem to entirely ignore the fact that he's also shown to try to make friends with the lil' hat people, who he knows are important to Nico, and specifically apologizes and tries to do better with how he was close minded towards the underworld, and by extension Nico. Also, Will's a healer for christs sake, who also get's sick when he doesn't get enough sunlight. His entire job and goal in life, through THREE wars, has been to keep ppl away from this place. that would be the primary image he has of death. Violent, and painfull. He's not used to people peacefully drifting away in their sleep. So of course the underworld, a place that has taken away a lot of people he's loved, is gonna be scary for him. Cut him some slack... He's trying (and in the end succeeding)
The last thing I really need ppl to understand, is that if you're older than 16, you're not the target audience anymore. The writing is not any worse than the other pj books, you just don't have the filter of nostalgia to make is seem better. The pacing ís a bit funky, but honestly it worked for me. I can see why not everyone would be a fan though.
There's probably more, but I can't think of it now.
stop saying "Kaz would be jealous and possessive over Inej if he thought she and Tolya liked each other" no he wouldn't! Kaz isn't like that! He defends Inej's freedom, autonomy, and desires at every single turn in the books. He spends the entire duology pining over her and yet gives her every single chance he possibly can to walk out of his life forever if she wants. It's the foundational cornerstone of their entire relationship! It's why they work in the first place!
literally the only Crow who does petty jealousy is Wylan and that's that on that, folks
