Azune is my fave and at the same time I feel the need to observe that if Azune was female he would absolutely be called a Mary Sue.

He’s stunning, with unique, distinctive eyes. He has some kind of special secret origin that explains why the child of destitute peasants has sorceror powers that are distinctive of the nobility. He has a heartbreaking backstory. He’s a powerhouse in melée combat and a spellcaster and looks incredibly cool and shiny in combat. Oh, and he’s also a trained investigator. Everyone around him, from his friends to his enemies, approves of him. His only flaw is that he’s too devoted to the people he loves and values himself too little and needs to be reassured of his worth.

Look me in the eyes and tell me that a female character could get away with all that without a ton of blowback. She falls apart and starts crying on Halandil Fang and gets hugs and the readers viewers are crying SELF-INSERT at the top of their lungs.

#yeah #azune is the imogen of cr4 #but because he is a guy there is of course another standard
