The Universe is very large, and all theories may have something to do with it. But it is equally likely that, although very common, that life is not close enough to our Solar System, or even, that they have not yet developed enough, or that they are already extinct (it is not simply a matter of space, if not also of coexistence at the same time).
In one way or another, the explanation to try to answer why we have not found other intelligent civilizations is fascinating (in both ways).

Whatâs New in Pop!_OS 20.10
Pop!_OS 20.10 is the result of fine-tuning features released in version 20.04. Continue on to see what weâve added!
New to Pop!_OS 20.10
Linux Kernel version 5.8
GNOME 3.38
Security updates (also added to Pop!_OS 20.04)
SUPPORT FOR DEB822 REPOSITORY FORMAT With the new deb822 format, the system sources list is now more compact and easier to understand. See example source below:
Enabled: yes Types: deb deb-src URIs: http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ Suites: groovy groovy-security groovy-updates groovy-backports Components: main multiverse restricted universe
This addition also includes a new library for repository management, which adds features such as the ability to change the default system repository mirrors, reset mirrors to defaults, and change the names of your repositories.
Added since release of Pop!_OS 20.04
STACKING
Similar to the tabs in your web browser, stack tiled windows atop one another for easier organization. First, use Super + S to convert a window into a stack. Using Super + Enter and your arrow keys or Vim shortcuts will add a window to your stack. You can also launch an application into the stack using Super + / to add it automatically. Super + Left or Right arrows cycles between windows in the stack. Lastly, move windows out of the stack and press Super + S to convert it back to a standard window.
To see Pop!_OS Stacking in action, watch the tutorial below:
FLOATING WINDOW EXCEPTIONS
Some application windows are too small to tile efficiently. After updating, you can now set Floating Window Exceptions, which prevents these windows from tiling.
To use this feature, go to the tiling menu in the top right corner of your screen, choose Floating Window Exceptions, and click âSelectâ. This will bring you to the Activities Overview. Select the window you would like to make an exception. This can be applied to all windows from the application or solely the window you selected.
Beneath âSelectâ, you will find a list of default system exceptions based on feedback from Pop!_OS users. Clicking on the menu will allow you to toggle the exceptions off and on, depending on your preferences.
FRACTIONAL SCALING
Set your desktop to your optimal viewing size. Cycle between 125%, 150% and 175% scaling in the Displays menu in Settings until you find the right fit.
EXTERNAL MONITOR SUPPORT IN HYBRID GRAPHICS MODE
Previously, users had to reboot their computers into NVIDIA mode in order to use an external monitor. Now external monitors are supported in Hybrid Graphics mode as well. Users in Hybrid Graphics mode will no longer need to reboot their machines or switch modes when plugging in or unplugging an external monitor.
How to upgrade:
After opening the Settings application, scroll down in the sidebar to the OS Upgrades menu. Click âDownloadsâ, then click Upgrade.
Alternatively, use the following command in the Terminal:
pop-upgrade release upgrade

Linux on the desktop is imminent because Microsoft will soon tire to Windows argues Open-source advocate Eric Raymond
Linux on the desktop is imminent because Microsoft will soon tire to Windows argues Open-source advocate Eric Raymond
âMicrosoft Windows becomes a Proton-like emulation layer over a Linux kernel, with the layer getting thinner over time as more of the support lands in the mainline kernel sources. The economic motive is that Microsoft sheds an ever-larger fraction of its development costs as less and less has to be done in-house.
If you think this is fantasy, think again. The best evidence that it's already the plan is that Microsoft has already ported Edge to run under Linux. There is only one way that makes any sense, and that is as a trial run for freeing the rest of the Windows utility suite from depending on any emulation layer.
So, the end state this all points at is: New Windows is mostly a Linux kernel, thereâs an old-Windows emulation over it.â

How would you feel about a Linux Wiki, for cross-platform documentation?
How would you feel about a Linux Wiki, for cross-platform documentation?
Right now, Arch Wiki holds a lot of the best documentation. And it makes sense, since Arch is a DIY distro, so there needs to be a good manual to read, otherwise there is no distro.
But I'm not sure it's healthy to tie some of the best documentation to one distro. Sure, Arch ain't going away anytime soon, but what if there was also room for documentation of Debian or Gentoo software? What if, instead of fragmenting documentation for various programs across various sites, manuals and wikis, we had one central repository that built on the efforts of more specific sources? Not to mention that Arch pages tend to focus on making software work for Arch, obviously. A standard wiki would contain tutorials and tweaks for more distros.
â
So, I'm thinking of starting LinuxWiki, using ArchWiki as a base, since I don't see the point of rewriting already good documentation. Instead I'd rather give it room to grow and become more universal.
