It’s been a busy year
The last month has been busy with me catching sleep mostly on airplanes, taxis and in hotels.. i’ll post stuff soon. Live more offline.
The constant struggle to Rebuild.
I had thought of celebrating my birthday in Nepal this year which falls in april but I couldn't go .When I heard about the earthquake and followed the Instagram feed of some photographers & Nepalese. I wanted to be there even more. I thought how I would have seen Nepal before and met people in happy times.
I didn't go in first week as it felt more like a burden on the country & people. I went there a week after and carried my own water, packaged food for some days as there was a shortage & I didn't want to become a liability there. On the first day, I started photographing like a news wired photographer but soon realised that I wasn't reporting and felt guilty of photographing that way. I talked to a lot of people in villages and relief camps often showing magic to people and giving some biscuits around. I saw one person collecting bricks from his destroyed home and keeping together in a pile . And I saw everyone recovering household items from the rubble, In a way collecting their homes and life in bits and pieces trying to put them together back again. That's how I started photographing in bits and pieces to make a single photograph.Â
Nepalese people displayed great strength in accepting what has happened with them and are gradually getting back to rebuild their homes. But there is a long way to go ; they need constant support and solidarity in rebuilding. With the monsoon on it’s way, It’s hard to think how they will pass the coming months. And It’s not just physical homes being destroyed but the earthquake has impacted them mentally & emotionally. I hope to go back soon again to show how they are getting back & rebuilding so that they don’t become invisible to the world.
Any amount generated from this work will go to Nepal.

Tenzin Tsundue - Poet, Writer and Activist. Tenzin Tsundue, the man with the red band is a Tibetan poet, writer and activist living in Dharamshala. He was recently arrested after he managed to protest the visit of president of People’s Republic of china Xi Jinping at Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad. It’s not the first time he has been arrested and sent to prison. Tenzin was arrested in 2002 and in 2005 after shouting ‘Free Tibet’ Slogans against Chinese premier personnel’s in Mumbai and Bangalore. He and friends of Tibet also condemn any trade with China as it continues to challenge India’s territorial integrity Tenzin is also promoting Tibetan artists and filmmakers. He got many short films at Dharamshala film Festival, which was sent to him by the Tibetans living in Lhasa & other parts of the world. One such film was ‘Bringing Tibet home’ in which Tenzing Rigdol smuggles 20 tons of native Tibetan soil by crossing 3 countries for the final installation in Dharamshala so to give a chance to the fellow Tibetans in exile who long for their country. Tenzin has been wearing the red band from the last 12 years and continues to wear it until Tibet is free.
It was amazing to photograph one of the finest actor 'Adil Hussain' . Had a interesting discussion with him about making your passion as your living.

My work on African & North eastern community parties in GQ India.
It was a tough assignment to shoot with my assistant getting abused as we were seen with very uninviting eyes. I almost felt I wasn't in india at Spasso club because we were the only Indians.Â
I'm a contributor in this month GQ magazine for my work on African & North eastern close community parties.
