Wow! Here it is! I am actually very excited about this (re)mapping piece. As I was working on the finishing touches, I was thinking about this past semester and how our world has changed so much in just a short amount of time, and I felt really satisfied with how this piece resinated with me and my feeling towards the past semester. 

If you look through my posts of this project you will see a lot of my research that went into the though processes behind this piece, and I think that is definitely something that will change as I proceed throughout my journey at STAMPS and beyond. Methods put and emphasize on why I am creating which is something I had not really put that much thought into before, as I just wanted to create something pretty. As I look on this piece and the other works that I have created in this class I am definitely pleased with not only the work itself but the message that they convey to me. 

Specific to this work, thought, was the circumstances that it was created under. I wanted to convey a sense of support and understanding throughout this piece, with not only the colors but the position of the hand as well. As this not only reflects on the current time that we are facing, to me it really highlights the thought process behind this class. I personally had never really worked in groups to create a piece, and this class was definitely a challenge to navigate that side of creating. Being such a big part of this class I thought it was important to show support through out this piece because not only are so many people supporting one another right now, but this class calls for so much support in the projects themselves. Whether it be speaking in a class critique, or engaging positively in a group project, this semester really called on support of peers. 

In the scope of the whole year at STAMPS, I would argue that support was also a theme that was constant in my every day. Many of us, myself included, went to a normal high school, where art was not a main focus, and while myself and several others took many art classes to make it a focus, there is still a big transition to studying Art and Design at a University level, and I have found so much support in this community, that I am excited to have added this piece to my portfolio. 

This work was definitely a lot of work, but I am happy with out it turned out and it definitely fulfilled my vision of two pieces that come together to show a larger picture. Unfortunately, my camera is at another home and I will be getting it soon and when I do I will be able to update the google drive with my work, in the mean time I was eager to post about the final project.

Here’s the start I am really excited about this remapping project. As I reflect on the semester I feel as though this really highlights my work, as support of one another and yourself is really key to success in art school I have found.

Some notes i have been taking for this project. I am still working on the research side to see the emotions of the view on the hand, whether palm is facing the viewer, or a position the opens the fingers.

Along with this I started to take pictures of my hand to help aid in the painting aspect. I am expecting my painting to be more abstracted due to the unsusual coloring but I what a fluide feel that draws the eye around the piece.

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well. This past week has definitely been the hardest up till now but I am hoping to get back into it. I have been putting a lot of thought into my remapping project and I hope to update my tumblr on those thoughts of the past week in the next couple day.

I want to first start with how what I am prompted by. Throughout this semester I have been working with this main idea of support, both in my project with Lucy and the Body Extention project have highlighted this idea of support, so I definitely have this idea in the back of my mind as I have been working with the remapping prompt.

As I began to think of incorporation of the semester into this Remapping project I was unsure of how I want to bring it together but I have settled on painting. And while I am struggling to find supplies during quarantine I am hopeful.

I would like to have a separated painting the would come together in several different ways that would bring together the themes of this semester. I plan on having three different canvases and working with specific color, to envoke specific feeling and themes. I want these three canvases to be their own piece but to come together to create a statement that shows the arch of this semester.

Okay! So here are the proto types I made earlier today. This represents the stairs/selves that would hold the work load of being online for schooling.

Update! Being at home has presented several obstacles as I was kicked out of the dorms and was unable to get any cardboard from the studio. I was able to find some limited card board from home while still practicing social distancing.

I also have had a concept change from the group work. While the skeleton of that idea is still present it is less so a stair case for one to walk on in support, but more of a support and extension of my ability to carry a work load. I am working on having a stair-like piece that extends my ability to carry the extra work load that comes from having online school.

While I know haveing a big orange box as the centerpiece in the coming week I hope to find a way to cover the piece. Paint would be ideal but again with stores being closed and the practice of social distancing I am worried I might not have the paint to carry that out. I would be willing to find another way to cover, thinking maybe paper.
