The late 19th-century gueuze and lambic brewery Eylenbosch was created in stages between 1851 and 1894. The newly-erected buildings were located around a closed courtyard, with the old brewer’s house centrally located along the main road. Around 1930, the steam brewery to the south of the site was partly rebuilt, as was the old house. Probably the new brewing tower was also built around that time. There is no more information available about the brewery buildings and their design. The brewery was acquired in 1989 by Brouwerijen de Keersmaeker (Mort Subite, later taken over by Alken Maes), since then the site has been seriously neglected. Since 2004, the site has been abandoned by brewery Alken Maes. The installations remained untouched until the beginning of the 21st century, but the brewery is currently almost completely dismantled. In the autumn of 2017, Emile Eylenbosch announced that after a long and agonizing administrative procedure, a builders permit was finally given for the reconversion of the site to 55 large and smaller apartments, lofts and commercial spaces around a central courtyard. Work will start in the spring of 2018 and will be completed in 2021 …
