ᴡᴇᴇᴋ 15: Finished (for now :’D )

ᴛʜᴀᴛ’ꜱ ᴀ ᴡʀᴀᴘ! I have finally added color to all my scenes in a way that fits my story. Chloe, feeling as if she had been fading away from existence (as shown throughout the short as she is not colored in fully) can now rest peacefully with Katie, in color and together. Unfortunately, it’s still not to my liking but I know one day I’m going to try and re do this animation into a way that’s satisfactory and pleasant to the eye. For now though, we gave it our all and shouldn’t force perfection when there’s still much more to learn and grow from :’)

Week 11:  “ 私が来た”

This week I really pushed myself to try and complete the roughs for my short animation; this is what I got out of it. I am almost to the end before I start polishing everything for the finale; about 5 more scenes left to go. How exciting! 

I’d like to call what I did on the side procrastination, but it was actually homework for the video game class. Hopefully I get more things done before my friend’s birthday, I would like to relax and hopefully enjoy that day. 

Overall, I am here to push on with all my might  (´｡• ᵕ •｡`)

⛧ ᴡᴇᴇᴋ 10: ʀᴏᴜɢʜ  ⛧

And so, I continue to work on my rough animations this week. Here are some of the scenes somewhat completed over the course of the week. Unfortunately, the perfectionist side in me is disappointed in the scenes produced; doesn’t mean we won’t keep trying though and at least it’s progress;; It’s just a rough, Andrea… chill. 

This week I try to finalize the character designs. Finally coming up with a design for Katie when I had been drawing out the rough animatic. These aren’t the final designs just yet but I know that I want to make Chloe look like a mess (her life is falling apart and I’m with you there sis), whereas Katie is seemingly ethereal and girly. 

A rough animatic for my short, Mirror. I’m not as pleased with how this turned out but it’s just a rough sketch, so I shouldn’t be putting myself down. If anything, it’s a start to somewhere. 

With no prior experience with blender, I had decided to get into it, to try and create an image of what I think the bedroom (main character’s) would look. After a bunch of videos and the visitation of my good ol’ friend, Stress; this is what I currently have.

Fire Lord Zuko waiting until the day he reaches the age of majority to pass this law, lest anyone think he is a coward

Zuko fights it for them.

Which, especially in more rural towns (where Agni Kais are less of a public event and more of a fast and violent duel) is terrifying because you challenge your neighbor’s kid over a stolen chicken-fish and all of a sudden the Fire Lord is showing up???

Firelord Zuko: *wakes up in a cold sweat near midnight*

The New Semester kicks off with me brainstorming what to do for my short animation. I am excited for this class and yet scared of the possibilities of failure. 

With this, I have put together concepts of two film ideas. Both ideas technically based off personal experience but dramatized in a way to make it artistically appealing and create a story with a lesson hidden beneath. 

When something that once gave you comfort, was the very thing holding you back. 

The First Animation; Lurking in the Shadows, is based off an experience I had been going through for years. A toxic relationship of an obsessed boy trying to keep a vulnerable girl to himself. We have a main character who surrounds herself with sheep. The MC confides in these sheep and put all her trust in them. But the sheep are not who they set themselves out to be, basically the ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing.’ The appearance of a orb-like entity causes a sense of curiosity to surge within her and she’ll continuously try to interact with it but the sheep would always hold her back. They would grow in amount and the presence of the sheep would no longer be comforting but more suffocating. 

For my Second Animation; Mirror, we have here an Insomniac that finds herself chasing after the ghost of her dead lover through means of mirrors and reflections.

When you’re close to someone, you begin to mimic their habits and routines. That being said, the departure of a loved one cause’s the MC’s reflection to disappear. One day, after seeing the ghost of her loved one running around through the mirrors in her room, the MC tries to enter into her mirror world (as if to say that she was trying to meet the same fate as her partner; ‘hitting the end button’). Entering the world transitions into a sort of chase scene within darkness and mirrors, the only source being of the light from the ghost of her lover. Everywhere she would go there would be mirrors in her way. Frustrated by this, she tries to break her way through and comes to a realization once she had cracked the glass. Looking back at her in the reflection was no longer her lover but rather, the image of herself; vulnerable and full of grief. MC will replace the mirror and no longer finds the ghost of her partner in every reflection she sees but focuses on her own being to try and move on. 

Mirror was always in the way  → she had mimicked her partner so much she had depended on them; causing her to lose her own sense of self. 

How Wraith and Wattson finally started calling each other by their first names.

Wraith: Wattson.

Wattson: Oui?

Wraith:

Wraith: Natalie.

Wattson, a little red: O-Oui?

Wraith: How come you're always embarrassed when I say your name?

Wattson, contemplating: ... you promise you won't make fun of me?

Wraith: Promise.

Wattson, looking down: I-I like the sound of it. You never call me by it but when you do... It is protective and considerate.

Wraith:

Wattson, panicking: Pardon! I-

Wraith: Since you like it that much.

Wraith ruffles Wattson's hair gently.

Wraith: I'll keep saying it for as long as I can.

Wattson, blushing: Oh.

Wraith, smiles: Feel free to call me Renee.

Wattson: O-okay! I will remember from now on... Renee.

Wraith: Good.

Wraith pats Wattson's head once.

Wraith, chuckles: Your cute accent will make me run to you faster than Octavio can do a mile. I promise.

Wattson, blushing excessively: Ah... Merci.

Wattson, pointing at a random direction: I-I'm going to defend that area!

Wraith: Natalie.

Wattson, stops midway reloading: ...yes?

Wraith, smiles: Nothing. Just wanted to say your name.

Wattson runs at full speed and kicks down the building's door. It flies and hits the otherside of the building.
