Before the school year comes to an end, I was able to host our second student counselling program with Sahrish Iftekhar. The girls from 6th, 7th and 8th grade who wanted to become in artist, participated in the event. Sahrish talked about what our students need to do in terms of academic and behavior at each benchmark. They discussed the actions and attitudes of successful students that leads on the path of becoming artists and also discussed which college they should aim for. smile emoticon Thank you Sahrish for coming and having the session with our students, another session is due! Upon asking, "What do you want to ask in your letter to your new friend in India?", Quratul Ain was excited and full of ideas. She just could not contain her excitement and curiosity. You cant imagine what a joy it is to read books and stories for my students! Just a quick reminder! I am collecting donations for our 'Take A Book Home' library project in my placement government school. If you have old story books or children magazines, I would love to have them for my students. :) we have recently added 125 books in our library. #FoodForThought:Since #Pakistan is big on helping each other. I thought I should share. I was watching my students work when a random thought popped in my head. Would I have ever been able to bring change in their life had I preferred feeding them instead of teaching? I have seen people serving food to the needy for aisal-e-sawab. But what is the use of you feeding them one time? They will need food in the next few hours again. If its all about intentions then why not help people in standing up on their feet instead of feeding them and making them used to of not working and getting everything for free because Islam prescribes the fortunate ones to be generous. Instead of following the trend of feeding the poor. Spend that money on sending one kid to school or supporting him to learn some skill. Stop supporting the prevalent trend of beggary in Pakistan. Start building the foundation to sustain the growth. Think about it its your money after all. I'd rather support a child's education or skill development training than hosting a food drive. Because I know this will help him/her feed their family for good. Just spend a little more time next time you want to spend to earn sawab. Its always good investment to support the better cause. Dont think you shouldn't feed the poor but priority should be long term benefit.

Zeeshan has always been so hard to get to. He has always been so hard to invest in. In past 2 weeks he has not only started to put sincere efforts in class but has alsonstarted to explain procedures. Today its his unit exam and unlike previous tests he is attempting his paper with aim to score good!! This is why I am glad I made this choice. This kid doing his exam is the best feeling of this world!!! Just when I was beginning to think I cant get to him, Zeeshan responded! You know what culture of achievement is? When not only students, school teachers are also interested in what you are doing in your classrooms and take inspiration from it. Today I noticed during a school meeting, this government teacher was found busy studying @hpew.91's language charts. :) #TeachForPakistan
