Incredibly this was my 5th commission of 2021 which was also commissioned as a gift and also for a returning client. I loved how specific and niche this piece was. The brief was simply to create a model of Alexandria gate from the walking dead... I simply loved this because I could already see it was going to provide a few good challenges... For the build I set about sketching what my mind's eye was navigating me towards doing... And from this I provided the client with a sketch... This becomes the key way to communicate between myself and the client. The structure was really quite straightforward and for the corrugated look I used tin foil. It was when I was commissioned by an amazing previous client to create The Big Bang Theory lounge I initially had to think about if this was entirely possible but then I came to my senses and realised it totally was! This piece was another gift for a partner piece (definitely a theme going now) and although I had clarified it would take some time the client was incredibly willing a patient with this piece. The build was quite intricate as there were various layers to the flooring that on first glance you don't notice and I had to look through online portfolios of set images to work out dimensions, distances and details... In the end it was all as ever totally worth doing. Spooky date - this was a piece that came out of absolute nowhere by a client that I've worked with before... Once again this was a birthday gift for their partner and I was asked to do something I don't often do... Replicate a scene involving people... The setting was to be a couple having a picnic next to the shore of a lake under a cherry blossom tree except they're are being watched by a ghost 👻 this is what I find amazing about this type of commission... The client has clearly got something they envisage in their mind, often it's a memory and through miniature sculpture I'm then trusted to recreate their memory... This is what my Time Capsules are all about... For the build I wanted to use resin to create the lake shore, this was something I'd not properly done to this degree before and so was quite a risk when I applied the two parts of epoxy to the piece... The Big Bang Theory apartment door was an othe awesome piece I was asked to create in miniature early in 2021 and interestingly this piece also was a gift... I was asked to make this piece as a birthday present for a lovely ladies partner. When I received the initial DM to discuss making this piece I couldn't wait to get started... For the build it needed to include both sides of the door which meant I decided to created a stand alone piece that could be viewed from both sides... Some of the details I needed to include were rather specific so close attention was given to these. I also had a challenge with packaging which you can see in the photos... I had a delicate lamp to protect so I got create with some card to help preserve the piece on its journey... @Harpospizza was a piece I completed at the star of 2021, based in Leeds they serve up some absolutely fantastic pizza's and it was so lovely to be commissioned to make a miniature replica of one of there two pizza parlours. It wasn't just a comission for themselves though, this piece was intended as a gift for a long standing member of their team. Building this piece was a lot of fun, I used a @cricutmaker for the first time to cut the window fascia out but it was fascinating because I still gravitated towards using my hands to make the whole piece. One of my favourite parts was the bench I had to make for the interior... Also finding a way to bounce light inside the drinks fridge was also a lovely challenge...
