do you think vox ever got angel to do something fucked up to himself under hypnosis. secretly, of course, without telling val. angel is already so self-destructive on his own merits—imagine how easy it would be to suggest that he walk into an unsafe situation and just. not fight back. later on angel will wake up somewhere unfamiliar in twelve different kinds of pain having no memory of what happened to him, and he won't doubt for a single second that he got high and did it to himself. because that's just the kind of person he is. he can try to get better and commit himself to change but he just keeps falling into the same patterns over and over again and wasting everyone's time. and ofc vox is always thinking of the things angel will find most degrading, that will most depreciate what little sense of value he has in himself.
vox knows he isn't supposed to be doing it and this isn't what he and val agreed to or even what he planned to do when he originally suggested the idea, but it's just so easy, is the thing. literally all it takes is a text. it gets to the point where he's barely even thinking about it, coming up with ideas to ruin angel's life on autopilot and forgetting about it immediately after. six seconds of sadistic joy at the cost of angel's entire psyche
