spending a few nights in a hospital
this is an addition to the last post about when i was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes
they took me from a wheelchair to a rolling hospital bed, and had all this stuff set up. blood pressure thing on my finger, multiple IVS for insulin and electrolytes, all that jazz. at night they took me on an emergency ambulance and got me to a different hospital where i could spend the next 3 days. the people there hooked me up to some more IV’s, and got ready for blood work. they had to take blood samples every hour i think to make sure my blood sugar was improving, and to make it easier they needled me once, added an IV faucet thingie and just left. i'm not sure what it was. whenever they came for blood work, they’d undo the top, stick a needle in and take some blood. i remember the nurses telling my dad how brave I was because of all the needles I had to take, and I remember not caring at all. I was so tired and my mouth was SO dry I couldn't even speak. I couldn't eat or drink either because it would throw off the measurements they had. all i could have were ice chips which SOUND cool but it’s just ice cubes fed to you with a spoon in a cup. not that cool.
