UM HI?

i am about to lose my apartment.

i got wrongfully terminated from a job i thought i would make into a career back in october and have not been able to find work since.

yes, i have been actively looking and trying but they do not reach back out.

i recently had to put my 3yo cat down because he had to have a $2k surgery to fix mutilation in his penis from having a catheter multiple times to help relieve him while he had bladder stones. i obviously do not have that kind of money. my parents refused to help out and told the vet to put him down without my consent before i could even do anything.

i am getting into state programs to help me out but i'm still not making any money and ive become severely depressed.

if any of you are feeling generous enough to help out, i would greatly appreciate it. i dont think i have anything i can offer in return other than my extreme gratitude.

I've noticed this huge trend where creators on tiktok and tumblr who will be explaining how to use Archive Of Our Own to new users and they always say "and make sure to scroll down and click completed only" or how people will go out of their way to mention they only read completed fics 'because they were traumatized when they forgot to check the dates and didn't realize this fic hadn't been updated since 2012'.

The thing is - I think by not engaging with and/or actively avoiding writer's WIPs readers are potentially adding to the aggregate of abandoned works. Now this obviously isn't the case for all abandoned fics, anything from major life events, to loss of interest, to getting busy can be a reason for a fic getting abandoned - but at least on some level I just know that writers are quitting while they're ahead when they aren't garnering any response or feedback because reading WIPs has become unpopular. If you're worried about reading something that hasn't been updated since 2012 then you can use the date updated function to sort out old fics.

Two years later, still no justice.

In the middle of the night on March 13, 2020, Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old EMT, was senselessly killed by police as she slept in her own home. Breonna was a daughter, friend, sister, and hero in her community.

Since her death, no one has been charged for her murder. The only semblance of justice that we have seen is the passing of the Breonna Law in Kentucky. But there is still much work to be done to ensure that other innocent people do not continue to lose their lives in the same manner.
