I have an interview for a job tomorrow in a career I see no long-term future for myself in. I’m doing it to have cash flow so I can really take my future in my hands though. It provides me money while I am living in a foreign country, so (at least after COVID) I can travel the world. And with this salary and this cost of living in Taiwan, I can REALLY travel the world. I mean, I could spend three months traversing Europe, South America, Asia, and beyond with no problem with the money I’ll save. I will have holidays and summers off. After work I can study programming and plan my future. I can decide if I want to go back to school and I can afford a high-quality coding bootcamp if need be. It affords me time and money to change my fate if I put in the effort. I may be well into my 30s by the time my plans come into fruition, but big dreams aren’t conjured from thin air. I hope to have the time of my life between now and then.

I really believe that a man needs to take the reins of life before it ends up making decisions for him. Time, in the long-term, runs out more quickly than the mind can comprehend. It’s of paramount importance to consistently consider one’s own impending mortality, whose scheduled arrival of course no one can predict.
