the world is quiet here

I needed to start over. In deleting all my previous content, I read through many of the notes I wrote myself in high school, the bad poetry I wrote about boys who didn’t care about me, wallowing in self-pity after fights with my parents and anxiety about what the future might look like. Life was smaller then. Tumblr has always been a source of catharsis to me, and I’m glad that I had that outlet when I was young and filled with angst, but I no longer want to be tied to past anxieties which seem so insignificant now.

I suppose it’s possible that when I’m older I’ll feel the same way about the thoughts I have now, at 22, but I like to think that I’ve grown. One way in which I’ve grown immensely - I know what love is. I no longer throw that word around to describe crushes or momentary butterflies. I have been in love once, with one person. I have no desire to again.
