              HE  CAN’T  HELP  BUT  WORRY  when  seeing  what  state  toya  is  in.  the  scent  of  charred  flesh,  &&  scorched  wounds  don’t  repel  aizawa.  they  only  spark  more  concern.  ❝  how’re  you  feeling  ??  ❞  the  words  are  softer  than  the  usual  roughness  he’s  known  for.  it’s  not  as  if  aizawa  goes  out  of  his  way  to  come  off  nonchalant  &&  sometimes  close  to  caustic.  but  he  won’t  deny  he’s  grown  jaded  over  the  years  (  better  to  say  that  than  still  being  gripped  by  grief  over  a  lost  loved  one.  )  his  students  give  him  a  reason  to  stay  human.  so  does  toya——  someone  who’s  managed  to  get  under  aizawa’s  skin.

             the  man  chuckles.  ❝  didn’t  know  i  had  fans.  ❞  he’s  not  fishing  for  compliments.  just  stating  the  truth.  before  aizawa’s  brain  can  catch  up  with  his  mouth,  he  asks,  ❝  buy  you  coffee  like  .  .  .  as  a  date  ??  ❞  it  takes  a  full  three  seconds  for  aizawa  to  realize  what  he  just  said,  &&  that  it  was  actually  said  out  loud.  eyes  widening,  the  man  almost  falters  with  his  next  step.  ❝  i  mean–  if  you  want—  ❞  aizawa  hasn’t  even  thought  of  dating  in  years,  or  liked  anyone  for  that  matter.  but  toya  continues  to  prove  to  be  the  exception.

For fuck's sake. What was this question for? In that state, where the hero could barely stand on his feet, was he asking him how he was? How the hell had he noticed? Was the scent that disturbing ? “ I'm a little drunk and horny but I'll manage. I mean, someone had to save that sweet ass of yours, right? ” As if he was going to reply seriously. Toya had enough of everyone feeling sorry for him — or genuinely worry in Aizawa's case. He had enough of those that couldn't see Toya had CHOSEN to use, burn and destroy the worthless body he was given for his own personal reasons. So he could take his revenge on the man who had always been looking down on him. 

Such a waste of time and space he was. Even after all those years of effort, he hadn't succeeded on anything. Well, almost anything, because there wasn't anyone better than him at making people run to escape. This was going to be the case with Aizawa too. The man was one of the few Toya truly cared for. One of the very few he didn't wish to destroy. That was why he'd give him many chances to get as far away as he could. He was about to show the other bits of his real nature. Of the madness that lurked within him and the hatred that drove him for many years. The more he'd show, the more he'd scare him and hopefully rip every last bit of emotion Aizawa had for him from his heart. His usual quiet attitude could have tricked the hero of being somewhat sane but he'd make sure to make up for that misunderstanding. 

With a wide, devious grin he stared at the black-haired male, not believing what he had just said. Why didn't he reject him? This couldn't have been right. Shit. They were both damned. That'd make his work even harder as it seemed. “ Who said anything about a date? ” Why not tease him? As if he already hadn't an adorable look on his face. “ Is the great Eraserhead asking me out? What an honor . . . ” Was he taking it too far? Probably. “ Didn't think you'd be that bold. How can I refuse? ”

            ❝  REALLY.  ❞  his  tone  falls  so  flat  &&  dry  that  it  obliterates  any  hint  of  a  question  mark.  despite  his  rough  voice,  there’s  still  a  subtle  grin  tugging  at  aizawa’s  face.  of  all  the  people  aizawa  can  see  after  another  shitstorm  of  a  battle,  he’s  glad  it’s  toya.  aizawa  marvels  at  how  he’s  still  alive.  he  feels  like  a  man  living  on  borrowed  time.  but  as  he  drapes  an  arm  over  toya’s  shoulders,  &&  leans  some  of  his  weight  on  the  other  man—  aizawa’s  glad  to  still  be  alive.  to  stay  a  while  longer  beside  toya’s  side.  ❝  this  is  more  than  enough.  ❞  after  a  few  steps  in  silence,  aizawa  murmurs,  ❝  sorry  for  getting  blood  on  your  clothes.  i’ll  pay  for  your  dry  cleaning.  ❞

The familiar scent of his own burnt flesh had already reached Toya's nostrils. The bandages to cover his arms had turned to ashes revealing both old and new burn marks so he had made sure to lower his sleeves to cover them. He knew he had to learn how to hold back sometimes but this wasn't like him. Not when he'd give everything he had to everything he did. What a petty excuse to come up with for his recklessness and suicidal tendencies. Still, it didn't seem as if he had any other choice than to go all out at this battle. Toya would usually be the one to take over in a villain attack but this time, he had arrived at the scene when a hero had already fallen down. And that hero, was Aizawa. 

He wasn't too heavy for him and if he had hadn't been so damn proud, he would have lifted and carried him all the way. For the time, he'd settle with just supporting him and maybe mess with his nerves until Aizawa would find a way to get rid of him. “ Are you kidding? Do you know how much more money I'll make if I sell these online? ” he chuckled. “ You have more fans than you want to admit, Eraserhead. ” And he was one of them. What a creep he was. “ I wouldn't say no if you bought me a coffee though. Maybe next time you can stand on your own feet. ”

“Why are you wearing safety goggles?”

“ Safety goggles? ” He pointed at those he had been wearing. “ Are you talking about these ? Oh, these are the addition to my new hero costume. They have a thermal camera, how cool is that? ” With Shoto, lying was easier than ever. The kid was going to buy literally anything to the point to make Toya almost feel bad. Almost. “ Do you like them? I think they are super cute. ” Geez, he should already stop with this act. 

“ Now, why don't you cut the cake already. Can't wait to find out what it tastes like. ” It wasn't as if underneath the delicious icing there was a balloon hidden, ready to explode the moment Shoto would attempt digging the knife deeper. Toya had taken his measures, taking his phone out, faking he was taking a selfie while recording the moment that was about to come. “ Come on, I can't wait! ”

“Oh my god! What did you just try to feed me?!”

The poor kid was such an easy target. Toya truly wondered sometimes what were the limits of his brother's naivety. Was it actually safe for the boy to turn into a hero ? Was he really able to function under difficult circumstances and not get himself tricked by some third-class criminals which would find some joy in making fun of the son of the number one hero? 

Toya was only joking of course. He had seen with his own eyes what Shoto was capable of. But how easily he'd change from a powerful hero to a dumb puppy was a sight he'd always enjoy. 

Faking a confused expression, he brought the cookies close to his face to smell them. As if he hadn't been the one to replace the crème filling with toothpaste. “ They smell like mint... ” he mumbled, his act seemingly going well so far. He couldn't believe he had taken a bite. Shoto's disgusted grimace was one worth taking a photo and Toya would if he hadn't been busy with trying to throw suspicion off himself. “ Damn, I'll call the fucking company! ” he yelled. “ They are trying to poison us! What the hell! ” Maybe he was overdoing it...

Kids grew up so fast. Listening to Shoto ask that ? Toya was at the edge to cry. He was so moved to hear his baby brother wonder what silly string was. As the older one, he had a duty to educate the next generation. He had to train Shoto so his brother would take on his legacy and keep the tradition alive. Shoto would have to work hard, so he'd replace him as the master of pranks.

“ That's silly string, ” he said, taking a spray can out of his backpack and showing it to him. He had been wearing his usual devious smile, eyes opened wide and pinned to Shoto's. He wasn't going to get away from him now. “ It is a tool of destruction. One even the most brave fear. One to take you out from the most difficult circumstances. But you'll have to use it wisely. And I'm here to show you how. ” It was very hard to not start laughing but that would just ruin the atmosphere.

He wrapped an arm around the younger's shoulders, holding him close to his body. “ Get yourself ready. We are visiting the number two hero's agency. This will be your first lesson. ”

Grumpy ? How cruel she could be at times. “ Nah… As if I give a fuck for her opinion. ” Well, he may act as if he didn’t, but Burnin’ couldn’t stop being someone to get on his nerves.
