Fernando Torres’ words after the last match (Requested by anon)

- We’re here with Fernando Torres, today he was very very very important on Atleti’s victory in this Calderón goodbye. Congratulations for that brace, tell me how you feel.

- Thank you very much, it’s difficult to explain the feelings I’ve experienced today. It’s been very moving during the whole match, with the memories of the fans of a lot of moments we’ve been living since we were kids coming to the Calderón. A lot of memories, a lot of things that come into your mind, and the victory today was a proof more of Atleti’s spirit. Then there’s those two banners at the end with the date of the first match in the Calderón, saying that this is our house, and the second one saying “The future starts now, we come back to Metropolitano”. History continues, feelings continue, we’ve lived 50 years of complete happiness, some less than 50, but it’s 50 for the eldest, and the important thing is that the feeling continues and it’s a big honour to be a part of it.

- Fernando, it was a brace but it could have been a hat-trick, the whole stadium was celebrating that hat-trick…

- Yeah, it ended up on the line. But those details are irrelevant, I think today is a day to celebrate a lot of things, especially it’s a day for Tiago, who has given his everything to this club, he retires with the love and the admiration of everybody, it was his day more than everyone else’s. We leave the Calderón, we leave our house, and it’s a day to enjoy. And there’s even more to come for the fans, who will get to enjoy all these players of Atleti’s history who have made Atleti a big thing. We have to enjoy them, enjoy this day, and we leave the emotions for later.

- What’s Fernando Torres’ wish from now on?

- To feel the same pride the other Atléticos feel for this club, to help as much as I can to make this club grow, and enjoy with this jersey a lot of years more. To help my teammates and the club in every possible way, and to thank everybody for their support this year which has been increidble, especially after the defeats, it’s when we felt their support more. And we tell them that we will be back next year trying again, of course.
