"Ninety percent of good character lies in overlooking (people's faults)."

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

"The person who treats others kindly and thinks well of them, will find that his intention will remain true, he will feel at ease, his heart will be sound and Allah will protect him from evil and calamity."

وكيفَ ليَ القوّةُ أن أُجيبَ إلهي

How could I gather the strength to answer my Lord?

إذا قالَ: يا رجلُ، ما الذي أغواكَ عنّي؟

When He says: “O man, what turned you away from Me?”

بأيِّ لسانٍ أعتذرُ عمّا جنيتُ

With what tongue shall I apologize for what I have done?

وهو العليمُ بما أخفيتُ وما أُبدي

"The truly fortunate person is the one who seizes the seasons of the months, days, and hours, drawing closer to his Master therein through acts of obedience. Perhaps he may be touched by one of those divine breezes, attaining a happiness that grants him safety thereafter from the Fire and its scorching heat."

قال شاعر:

فتشبهوا إن لم تكونوا مثلهم**إن التشبه بالكرام فلاحُ

A poet said (on the pious people of the past):

“Try to imitate them if you are not like them, Indeed in imitating the honourable lies success.”
