I do think its very weird that sometimes I see these views of athletes that act like they are purely victims in the context of health, painkillers, etc. Its kind of infantlising sometimes how people seem to act like they dont knownthe choices theyre making or dont understand the implications etc. it can be both horrible the way their bodies are used for others profit & understandable that tjis is a choice they continue to knowingly make. we should make sports safer within the boundaries that exist without ignoring the realities of the situation. very often teams are not forcing athletes back after injury. they want to be there. I am not a professional athletes but I AM someone eith a chronic illness who cares about dignity of risk and believes that should be applied to everyone.
