all junhyung heard were the drip, drip, drips of the leaking faucet. if ever an out-of-body experience occurred, he would pin this to the board as his first example. chaerin, the only female capable of numbing his thoughts, successfully shut down his brain again. vegetable status. his vision the only thing registering for the moment, the feeling something akin to that of being a deer caught in headlights. even the very tips of his fingers only sparked to life with a subtle tingling. what could he say? what could he do? she was right-- it’s not like he couldn’t recount the numerous empty promises scattered through years and years of push and pull. until complete disconnect.

the more he forced his focus onto the female in front of him, the less noise swam through his mind. static soon shifted to sense-- “jules, enough!” the switch had been turned, life returning to expressions registering over his features. “you think i don’t know that? i’m not perfect and i can’t even act like i am. can’t even act like i’m anything but a piece of shit when you constantly chime in to remind me.”

those words sent a fresh wave of frustration through his already boiling veins and it took every part of the rapper to not hurl his phone at the nearest wall to alleviate the tension. “is that some kind of joke, sooyoung?” he scoffed, the gruff texture in his tone aiding to the atmosphere surrounding the two. since the idols had become friends, they realized how careful they needed to be ( as always ) in the eyes of the public. rumors could destroy a career and there were very few instances of two idols being out like this that wouldn’t result in s o m e false interpretations. but the more and more they met up, the less exciting their friendship suddenly became. meetings late at night with very few places to frequent, often sheltered up in his apartment with another movie lost in the background.

“you think i want to sneak you around to my apartment every single time you call?” junhyung never intended on becoming so heated over the issue, lest he wanted to deal with the consequences-- which were standing in front of him, the young idol at the front line of his harsh words. “if you want to leave, then walk out. why should i stop you if you’re so tired of this?”

Besides being both born in the same year, their personalities easily clicked– They were of the reserved and gentle kind, as well as being on the same page of living their lives without having to show it on SNS. Furthermore, Jinki was a private and secretive person albeit his rather bright features, but since he shared the same age as Junhyung, he was a lot more relaxed and comfortable.

“I swear, you’re the only person who’s managed to get me into a game like this. My dongsaengs have tried time and time again, but my attention span and memory doesn’t last me long. Too many controls and game mechanics, you know?” His lips let out a chuckle, placing down the controller on the floor gently. “Oh, that’d be a good way to pay me back after all those close calls. But really? All of them? You have that much free time these days? Must be quite the life to do everything you want like that~ because CEO life.”

the atmosphere shared between the two was calm, yet there really never seemed to be a dull moment no matter the conversation at hand. junhyung had very few friends he could consider great conservationists-- which is why he was always grateful to have jinki in his life and knew he was a companion who valued their friendship just the same. 

“you’re the only one who plays as terrible as myself, i’m even surprised we cleared that last one,” junhyung insulted both of their play-styles with a laugh following shortly in time, quickly checking his cell for any important notifications before tossing it alongside the controller he had put down. “ah, ah. i wish i had all that free time... but then again, i wouldn’t be in this profession, would i? being a ceo is the easy part-- actually getting up and going through with all the decisions you made as ceo? not so much, jinki-ah. but i definitely wanna be there for you, in person or just shooting you a text or a call to check up on you, y’know?”

“me? i had a phenomenal day, considering the five hour nap i took,” the rapper chortled behind his hand, waving it in front of him after the expression had died down. “how about you?”
