i think part of the draw is i like the like uhmm. he's very earnest in some ways but also a manipulative shithead? those aren't mutually exclusive attributes for him. like he has an earnest belief (or... believes he has an earnest belief, however much of that is feigned consciously or not) that generally entails being a manipulative shithead to fulfill, but at that point he can be earnest. but when that belief/goal fundamentally can't be met what are you left with. and then positioning that against someone who stubbornly does not believe or want that thing, and also luckily for them doesn't have the capacity to become it, but also has this earnest obsessiveness and real malaise. the contrast in dispositions

remmeri only works in wf where he literally can't make people vampires though because i think if he could, he of course would, and then the person underneath is basically gone anyway with the way he specifically does it. and of course part of the allure is wishing so badly you could make someone into a vampire but it not being possible so you have to do stupid other ways of getting to know someone that have been more or less moot for ages for you

i think it's kind of like, martin & darius & jimmy would all be so distraught about thinking of someone else as cute or having that kind of fondness for another person, but i think remmick is more indulgent and diminutive in this regard

the worst part about house md is that despite being cynical and callous in its comedy there is an underlying principle that i find compelling. like the conceit of the show is that pain (in many senses, though the show focuses on physical chronic pain of course) is unbearable and unavoidable and it's not.. well i personally don't think it's preachy on that. house talks about pain and misery a lot of course but it feels less excessive and more like a real expression of an agonized character. i don't know i like it despite everything
