fishing zones are based on the catch of an area and are split up also to better organize those parts of the district as well as avoiding overfishing. some areas are heavy in shrimp catch and others in trout
the weather is for the most part characterized by cool, wet winters and dry summers. there's a lot of wind and a lot of cloud cover. in some parts of the district there's fog in the mornings that rolls in. the water on the beaches is generally cold though many often will go in it. there's dangerous waters in most places due to the currents which is why it's crucial that people are strong swimmers. there's a lot of more tame beaches and coves where one might go for a genuinely relaxing swim and it's also where a lot of kids are taught to swim to reduce risk
a lot of people are taught medicine, and first aid is a course thats offered in school as a possible elective. a lot of the industry work is dangerous and can be independent or isolating so they teach people a lot of basics to be able to survive
there’s a checkpoint between the docks and the rest of the district where peacekeepers oversee that no one leaves with a spear or any other dangerous fishing gear. many have found ways, namely through the district’s black market, to make their own or buy some to keep at home under floorboards and other assorted spots
