5 Star Northeast Black 14u Battles Rain and Parkway to Atlantic City
The 14U Black squad woke up at the crack of dawn, eyes half open, cleats still muddy from last week. Destination? Atlantic City. Purpose? Dominate Game 1 of the Perfect Game East Coast Elite Championship. But somewhere around Exit 58 on the Parkway⌠chaos struck. Phones started buzzing like someone hit a walk-off. Coachesâ group chat blew up. Parents went silent. One player yelled from the backseat, âYo, PG just canceled all Saturday games!â followed by another kid asking, âSo⌠are we still stopping at Wawa?â Just like that, the mission shifted from baseball to bagels and back home. So the mafia made a U-turn smoother than any double play theyâve turned all year.
Sunday Game 1: 5 Star NE Black 14U Show Fight in 9-3 Setback Against Muckdogs
Fast forward to Sunday: after a full Saturday of sitting around and contemplating if rain is the teamâs new rival, the PG officials dropped a bombâSundayâs now win or go home. No pool play. No warm-up games. No excuses.
Despite a solid offensive effort, 5 Star Northeast Black 14U fell to Muckdogs Baseball Club by a score of 9-3. The team showed flashes of promise both at the plate and on the mound but couldnât overcome early scoring by the opposition.
Liam Lawrence got the start for 5 Star NE Black 14U, throwing 4.2 innings with 7 Ks, while only 2 BB. Lawrence's fastball sitting at 71 mph and topping out at 75 mph.
Carter Stute entered in relief and pitched 1.1 innings, allowing 2 hits, 3 BBs, and striking out 2 while working in the 67â71 mph range
Offensively, Ethan Snyder led the charge, going 2-for-3 with a triple and one run scored. Billy McCormick contributed with a 1-for-2 effort at the plate and added an RBI, while Andrew Moses went 1-for-3 and also drove in a run.

After an offseason of hard work, development, and preparation, the Mafia is ready to hit the field and make noise across the region. Whether itâs lighting up the scoreboard, locking things down on the mound, or swiping bags with speed and swagger, this yearâs 15U teams are built to compete.

In a weekend packed with high-stakes baseball, 5 Star NE Black 14U made their presence felt, notching three wins in four games and demonstrating the kind of complete team baseball that turns heads across the travel circuit. From the first pitch on Saturday to the final out on Sunday, 5 Star NE Black showed they are a squad built on gritty pitching, aggressive base running, and timely hitting. A formula that carried them through a successful tournament campaign and signaled they are a team to watch this season.
Saturday Game 1: Lawrence Throws No-Hit Gem, McCormick Sparks Offense and Basepaths
The tone for a competitive tournament weekend was set early as 5 Star NE Black 14U earned a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Knights 14U on Saturday morning. Fueled by dominant pitching and relentless base running, the team opened strong in their first game of the weekend series.
The scoring kicked off in the bottom of the first when an error by the Knights allowed 5 Star NE Black to jump out to a 1-0 lead. That early momentum was all Liam Lawrence needed to take control from the mound.

5 Star NE Black 14U showed grit and execution down the stretch, rallying from an early deficit to secure a 5-3 victory over Willis Otanez Baseball Academy 14U. After falling behind early, 5 Star NE Black tied the game in the bottom of the fourth, fueled by a clutch RBI single from Joshua Wellen.
In the fifth, Gil Oânell and Liam Lawrence delivered back-to-back RBI singles down the left field line to reclaim the lead for good.
On the mound, Carter Stute was dominant in relief. Stute tossed three perfect innings, allowing zero hits, zero runs, and striking out four without issuing a single walk earning the win.
Jianluca Romano got the start, 3 innings only surrendering just one hit.

The offense tallied seven hits, including two apiece from Tommy Lynch and Ethan Snyder, who set the table throughout the day. Liam Lawrence drove in two runs to help keep the pressure on.

Despite rain showers threatening the weekend, 5 Star Northeast 14U showed resilience and determination, managing to get games in during the USABL 14U Gold Glove Classic Tournament. Unfazed by the weather delays and wet conditions, the team stayed focused and made the most of their opportunities on the field. With adjustments to schedules and a lot of hustle, 5 Star Northeast 14U competed hard, finishing the tournament with a 1-2 record.

After falling behind early, 5 Star NE Black 14U showed resilience, taking a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the second inning, capitalizing on a pair of walks and aggressive baserunning. They extended their advantage to 5-3 in the fourth, thanks to clutch singles from Tommy Lynch and Gil Oânell, who sparked the offense.

5 Star NE Black 14U participated in MSI's 14U Smash & Bash Tournament April 12-13th. It was a weekend of grit, firepower, and standout performances for 5 Star NE Black 14U, who picked up two big wins and narrowly dropped a third in extra innings.
Saturday Game 1: 5 Star NE Black 14U Rallies Past Broomall Tigers, 9â5
After falling behind 4â0 early, 5 Star stormed back with a seven-run second inning, highlighted by Gil Oânellâs clutch three-run double. They added insurance in the third on a wild pitch and held on as the Tigers tried to claw back.
Marcus Morrison earned the win (3 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 4 ER).
Carter Stute closed it out with a scoreless inning.
