i especially like that you didn't disregard the fact that ink still needs some form of the paints to move around and "live". without anything, they would be an empty, motionless husk. a lot of people who do stuff like this are just like "oh he stopped taking his vials and so now they're evil" which doesn't make sense. not only does he need the ink from the creators to sustain his magic abilities, but it's also a good way to keep it where he still lives and depends on them, but not for emotion - for simple survival. it keeps their morals similar, just in a more twisted apathetic way of thinking about them since he quite literally cannot feel anything. the vials being bluntly/thoughtlessly stabbed into himself is a nice touch too. not sure if this was the intent, but it's like they don't want to think about what he's doing, and they don't want the hassle of having to repeatedly drink from them. also further shows he physically can't feel anything due to the lack of a soul (har har can you tell i like ink)

also palette knives instead of his brush??? perfection. lots of people do a simple ink pen instead but i think branching out and exploring different art related weapons is very cool PLUS its a good parallel with killer's knives for weapons

i also love that you didn't make swap some crazed lunatic out-for-blood yandere for literally no reason!!! that never made sense to me with the whole "fallen stars" concept. and cross being apart of it is really cool too, i adore the way u drew him !!!! because honestly he is more of a morally grey character to begin with (at least at the beginning) and his mission could have verryyy easily turned sour if not for the intervention of the omega timeline/dream.

and dw! i love ink too!!!! i think it was my third ever au i saw? anyways theres a lot of attachment there lol, but yea! it still needs ink, its like its blood! and the jabbed vials are intentional, theyre made to resemble machinery/ fluid pumps, so it adds to the non 'humanness' (uh non soullessness???) to ink, like its not a living being! also helps because of his forgetfulness, its always in view so it can see when its running low!

and yea!! the knives mirror killers! a lot of the design cues for all the swaps were meant to mirror their counterparts- story wise too, so now ink is this apathetic other being, leaking paint everywhere, and killer is the one willingly injecting foreign magic to help his condition! i like paralleling <:3 also palette knives in general usually make for harsher and rougher detailing, not nearly as much finesse as a brush, so its another way to show that this ink is little concerned for the individual lives in the aus! though its not like he's evil, he isnt, he just has a different moral compass than others due to him being created differently, its like ascribing human values to some eldritch being tbh xD (im a big fan of cosmic horror ><)

hshqjd blue to me is easily the scariest sans ever no matter the situation, his design came easiest to me xD i dont mind if ppl write him as crazy lunatic (id love him anyways) but i just like when things have a story behind them!!! not to say this one is crazy (crazy? i was crazy once...), he's not alright in the head but he's very much in there- just, with survival in the mind first and foremost. i dont blame him for the things he has to do yknow, but its painful to watch anyways, and thats why i made it!!! ajfjwkfkwkf PUT THOSE MEN IN SITUATIONS

cross was the hardest to place since his story is already really fleshed out and complex, so i was worried the swap would make him more generic,,,. rlly glad to hear u liked it tho!!!!! tyy!!!

AND YEAA I KEPT THE GUILT I AM A GUILT ENJOYER >:3 but yea i love recovery journeys when they actaully dig their hands into the wounds and pull the rot out in the open- and sans is already a character that adresses so little- i cant begin to imagine what these scenarios would do to him

the killer and dust pictured are already some years into recovery, 3 or so i'd say? killer a little less, but they're both still keeping a really tight hold of what happened, specially from papyrus (who has suspicions abt what could've happened but because he doesnt have the same affinity for reading expressions cant quite tell- the papyruses in general can deduce sans did something, but that it somehow didnt come to pass (everything else is too normal), and now his brother feels tremendous guilt and a need to isolate. they know it was to do with them, little else affects sans in this way. dust's paps specifically suspects his death because of sans' attachment to the scarf)

horror doesnt quite have the same issue- his papyrus was there the whole time, so he mostly grapples with physical pains and paranoia, hyper alertness and defensive aggression, and a slow recovery from hunger because he insists on giving his portions to papyrus- but mentally he's leagues above killer and dust 😭😭😭 what no paps does to a mf 😭😭
