Why is there the misconception that all butai actors are rich?

he debuted when he was 20, now he’s 26. he’s been in ~20 shows over the past 2 years. this industry is popularity-driven. not all actors are so lucky.

he revealed his highest/lowest monthly income 

his apartment rent alone is ~120,000yen (over $1000k)

highest monthly income: enough to buy high-class watch

lowest monthly income: there were times when he only got 10,000yen (at the current exchange rate? less than $90)

salary is commission-based (don’t get paid until after the shows are done)

sometimes the payment transfer is not always on time

Just because they are popular does not mean they are RICH. Please stop using “They are already rich!” as an excuse to defend piracy.

They don’t just appear in a few stageplays and are set for life. It takes CONSTANT hard work and FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM FANS to get to where they are; maintain their status in the industry; and be able to afford nice things. It needs to be understood that they are not all the same as drama/tv/movie actors who we are familiar with as being “rich”. Hopefully this is an eye-opener as to why many of us are so vocal about the importance of buying (when you can).
