[RULES] you should read them because I added something new!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 

WHY you ask?

Because Ino knows exactly how it feels to replace a well beloved, so-called-perfect actor for said role. He have experienced that pressure before, he knows how it feels. Even after he left the production, people still compares him with the old, more beloved actor.

So, if you are treating Tanaka Naoki badly, and saying stuffs like that, you are giving him the same treatment that one fandom did to Ino.

BE BETTER

Be better because every actor, at some point of their careers (more often at the beginning) have been someone else’s recast, and they know what kind of pressure being in that positions puts on you.

Be better because all the actors you love would always, always want you to treat every performance with fresh eyes and a open mind.

Be better because all the actors who have graduated from a show would want their successors to be loved and respected just as they were.

Be better because all the actors WANT their successors to be better than they were at the job because it is what the shows really need.

Be better because actors find new goals in life and often it involves exiting productions they have invested in for a long time.

Be better because actors need more time to prepare for the new challenges on stage and thus cannot be tied by what first made them famous.

Be better because some actors are destined to be the star of the show rather than supporting characters forever.

Be better because actors are not your personal puppets and they have no obligation to continue to play the same character just to please you at the expense of their expanding careers.

Be better because people cry at their graduations too but it doesn’t mean they want to stay in college forever.

Be better because RECAST IS SUCH A COMMON PRACTICE just because you have never seen other shows before doesn’t mean your absolutely intolerable behavior is in anyway excusable.

Be better and stop “hoping” old cast will come back. Actors CHOSE to leave productions. They (and by “they” I mean very specifically Kimura Tatsunari) WANTED to stop playing the same character and they DECIDED to leave the show. To “hope” for their return is not only disrespectful to their successors but also TO THE ACTORS WHO MADE THESE DECISIONS THEMSELVES.

Be better because recasts aren’t there to purposefully piss off your snowflakey ass. They are there to move the show FORWARD. If you want to stay where your “fave” last were, DO STAY because nobody wants your negativity down the road.

Be better because just ‘coz your lazy ass can’t get used to a new face doesn’t mean you have the fucking right to confine an actor in the same spot. They will move. They HAVE to move, mostly AWAY FROM YOUR WHINY, TOXIC PIECE OF SHIT.

The unspoken rules are no, you should not approach, and no you should not ask for photos.  

There are deeper reasons for this tradition. Japan might not be unique with these rules but they definitely take them the most seriously (or even to more extreme degrees) and it is largely based on the belief that entertainment is a form of service.

Once you put that in mind, it explains a lot of the business behaviors that seem to exist exclusively in Japan until maybe recently, such as buying multiple copies of the same merchandise/CD to gain direct access to the star or boost chances of such access (e.g. I bought two boxes of Ota Motohiro’s trading cards so I could shake his hand, take a picture and exchange a few words with him, couldn’t do that with just one). 

The idea that the more you pay for a service, the better the service you deserve to get is VITAL to keeping the money flowing in because it is an accepted system where fans would not feel like they are being treated unfairly or ignored. And because the whole thing is money-based, any action outside of this system would break this carefully maintained balance.

If an actor can just take a picture with or give their autograph to some random person on the street, how would the fans who pay their annual fanclub fees just to get the same privilege feel? What about those who bought 15 copies of the same CD so they can maybe have a better chance at winning the lottery for a fan meeting that also allows them to do just the same?

Fans can stand other fans gaining close contact with their stars ONLY IF THEY PAID ENOUGH TO DESERVE IT. Otherwise fandoms would rebel and question if the star and their agencies actually value the contributions of their most hardcore and devoted fanbase. Always remember, it is consider a /service/ to give fans handshakes and take pictures, therefore fans cannot ask for these privileges without paying for them and actors cannot give them away for free.

And if you want to dig deeper on why is there a strict money-for-access system in place, one reason is that crazy fans have taken on extreme measures against the artists when they feel they have been neglected. And unfortunately this also involves a lot of violence and abuse against women. Female Japanese artists have been subject to enormous online abuse or even physical violence from male fans for as small a reason as rejecting an unwanted gift. So you can imagine what actions might be triggered if these artists were found to be taking pictures/interacting with some fan they ran into on the street. Their lives could literally be in danger.

And recent years have also seen a rise in stalking incidents. That’s why many 2.5D shows have to put out notices warning fans to not wait around the theater for the actors to enter/leave the venue. At this point it is no longer an attempt to protect fans’ equal access to the actors, it is to literally PROTECT THE ACTORS’ LIVES.
