Fav part is that the protagonist is a social engineering woman. Generally i feel like super villain level manipulative female charas just work better (woman having 2 navigate worlds working against them + i feel like male charas in the same position r usually written w a level of dominance aspiration that isnt as interesting to me) like 'girl meets rock' having multiple of these kind of types is y that series is as good as it is. + the settings r kind of tame in the grand scheme of things which makes the absurdity of their characters shine so much more. Like they put up a mirror to the goofy theatrics that beget certain outcomes n ur like "the audacity 2 actually go thru w it"

The whole thing is so strange to me. Like besides the fact that versing is incredibly common irl, y is it characterized as if either end has specific outcomes? (Like the top is uncontrollably active n the bottom can't help but react/receive) idk if this is just generally the most exciting scenario for most ppl or wut. 🤨 There has to be more to it than this. Sex is just a continuation of characters actions in a more intimate context. But I find most sex scenes r very bland (u could swap out the charas and nothing would change). (Mostly this refers 2 gay dude stuff cuz it dominates the fandom conversation, but even with straight or gl ( < especially gl where penetrative sex rlly shouldn't be the end all ) u see this kind of stuff.) The bottom has to be a blushing, hyperreactive recipient. 🤷 like y cant the dynamics be fleshed out? So little smut (where the whole thing is sex!!!!) Does anything interesting with the format. Like they want 2 include characterization but aren't willing 2 carry it all the way through.

Like even flipping the dominant fandom (generally accepted top/bottom) dynamics just results in the exact same actions being mirrored by the other chara in the ship. Y?(ppl genuinely argue over who would be the blushy bottom...) Like i realize most smut rlly just exists to be titillating and that's it, but if you're gonna bother with a backstory. Make it involved!!! (I rlly think sex scenes can add so much to a story if they're actually treated like extensions of interaction and not a checklist of requirements).

And I don't rlly have a problem with corny lyrics. Marina has always been kinda corny. But when it has a specific topic to focus on it works. Oh no! Vs. Guilty ('I was dreaming something dark' -> explains dream 'yeah, im a troubled one - and i wont be forgiven - guilty on the run') like oh no! is the culmination of the songs proceeding it (im perceived as robotic, I'm being chased down a path i don't like, im unhappy with my life, im striving for stardom. -> oh no! just acts as the a manifesto of that person) but guilty is just general guilt. It rlly doesn't do anything to elaborate on that specific grief. Just im scared im gonna get caught. It's like if oh no! Was followed by the lyrics 'I don't like who im becoming - and I try to do something - but it all amounts to nothing' like ok. But its just kinda boring. It doesn't have the same panache as 'I know exactly what I want and who I want to be - I know exactly why I walk and talk like a machine - I'm now becoming my own self-fulfilled prophecy' - Oh no!!!

Damnn... the music videos do so much to elaborate on the material. Like i have no doubt in my mind that she's heavily involved with the vision. But there's seriously stunning production happening here(only possible w collaboration). Like its obvi who the actress in machinegirl is supposed to represent, but the costuming drives the point of supposed opposing forces further. Even tho the girls in reality r being cast in the same roles by the people behind the camera, everything about them seems to be in conflict with each other. Ppl want a fight no matter wut the real ppl involved feel. Like the girls switching btwn who has the upperhand. It's tv ppl 🗣 (they're opposites. They're mirroring each other.)
