How do you draw the. From the front… I’m tryna finally do a front face angle for my oc as I might end up turning her into a png to stream on TikTok while I draw or play a game and I love your art to pieces
(If you do art trades I’d love to do one with you oml)
So sorry for answering this late!
In my opinion, since yautjas are a particularly tricky species to draw right, expecially on your first tries (gods know I still struggle), using references is you best ally.
There are countless of busts and head sculptures (3d models as well) that can be a great base to observe the general facial structures and the later play with them to make an original character.
I usually always start by the head shape, the mandibles are the last thing I place.
In a frontal view, the mandibles may cover more or less of the mouth, depending on the angle at which they bend (that can be more vertical or more like an x shape).
And it's good practice to keep the skeletal structure in mind.
They face area is generally similar to a human head (oval/square), the crest adds volume to the head and then the mouth area gets quite busy. If you ignore the outer tusks, their inner jaws are quite small.
The eyes are usually smaller and sunken deep in the ocular cavities.
Plus I tend to draw the mouth where usually a human nose would end.
Proportions may also vary depending on the subspecies and character characterization of course.
They do look quite silly without mandibles but just trust the process ^^
And I do like to do trades with friends or mutual but I'm afraid I'll be very busy with projects for the next couple of months.
Plus I still have some commissions to finish ;v;
