Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.

But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.”

You also don’t have to feel guilty or hopeless!

This absolutely isn’t the fault of any one person, and not everyone can contribute, at least not in the same way.

The point is it’s a problem, a problem for workers, marginalized communities, the environment, and animal welfare. And it’s getting worse.

Now’s not the time (nor will it ever be) to play the blame game, now’s the time to organize and do what each of us can to our own ability.

If you can’t reduce your animal product intake, try pursuing local farms (it still depends on the farm but generally they have more ethical regulations). If you can’t pursue local farms, try pursuing rifle hunting, whether buying from it or learning it yourself.

If you can’t do any of that, just talk about it and call for more ethical practices in agriculture, it makes a huge difference.

For example, if you live in the U.S., contact your senators to stop the ‘Save Our Bacon’ Act and Food Security and Farm Protection Act

The Save Our Bacon Act H.R.4673 and Food Security and Farm Protection Act S.1326 are 2025-2026 Act that will nullify state AND local regulations on production of agricultural livestock.

That means the efforts such as :

-California Proposition 12 (the law that establishes a minimum square feet based space for veal calves, breeding pigs, and egg laying hens in response to cruel confinement practices)

-Massachusetts Question 3 (a similar law that ensures veal calves, breeding pigs, and egg laying hens have space to stand up, turn around, and spread their wings)

Will be overturned.

These laws are already insufficient in preventing cruel farming practices, but they were a start.

The Trump Administration has already increased the federal kill speed limits, which puts animal welfare, workers, and food safety in danger.

Contact your federal lawmakers to oppose these acts.

Regardless of what you can do, please research factory farming, and advocate for agricultural regulations and against factory farming.
