The climate change and the resource scarcity is an important issue. It is urgent to make a change how we are using resources by minimizing the amount of resources we use and improve technology to help us save resources and reduce the climate change effect. An example would be in China where some houses turn down the heat in the house if you are far from the house.

It is estimated that by 2030, the demand for energy is going to increase to 50% and water withdrawal is going to increase by 40%. This is due to  population growth and an economic growth that increases the amount of resources being used and also impact the climate change negatively. The demand for fossil fuels, minerals, water, oil and food are some examples that are going to increase rapidly.

The consequences are many and could cover unlimited of pages.

As the climate changes, it will affect sea levels, water scarcity and farmable land. It can also cause natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis which the world already are experiencing today. In 2017, USA got hit by numerous of tsunamis wish costed lives and a huge loss for the economic. This will cause stress on traditional security and defence forces to retain order as well as providing service during a humanitarian crisis. Another implication for this is that it will increase conflict and political tension over resources. More people are gonna want to retain resources and therefore conflicts will start over who’s going to have power over the resources.

The defence and security of countries are those who are most affected by the climate change. Technology have great role when it comes to natural disasters as communication is key once a natural disaster occurs. Defence organizations are often the first responders and with more natural disasters happening due to climate change, the defence organizations will have to increase their resources and put a greater strain on on traditional missions.

What are countries doing today to reduce the climate change and the high amount of resources being used?

Electric cars are one thing has has been implemented into the society. This would essentially reduce the amount of fossil fuels being used in the world. This solution is not bulletproof as more than 96,000 plug-in hybrid and electric cars were sold in the US in 2013, but it only exist around 22,000 public charging stations. So it exist room for improvements in the future. An implication of this is also that the electricity might not come from a renewable energy source. As Donald Trump don’t believe in climate change, he have made actions for digging up lignite which is bad for the climate. It doesn’t mean driving an electric car in the US is good for the climate change and the resource scarcity as it might come from lignite.

Coca Cola and the USDA have taken action to improve water resources. The two published a five-year public-private partnership to protect and also restore US watersheds in 2013. The purpose is to recover more than a billion liters of water to the National Forest System. A billion liters of water could provide water for over 60 million Americans with drinkable water.

The megatrend is predicting several of implications of the climate changing as well as the resources becoming less and it looks like the megatrend is correct if we continue living the way we do right now. By continuing to live like West countries does, more natural disasters will occur and the demand for resources like fossil fuels, minerals, water, oil and food are increasing due to a population growth combined with a economic growth. The global economic balance of power is shifting. The East and Southern countries are growing and are getting more economic power than ever before. In 2015, the GDP of BRIC, Mexico, Turkey and Indonesia will have surpassed the GDP of West countries including Japan with twice as much.Africa is also experiencing a huge economic growth with their amount of resources and people living there.

There are numerous of reasons for East becoming the top of economics. One of the most apparent reason for this is the cheap labour in those developing countries. It is cheap to produce products and the workers don’t get paid much. Therefore, most of the products in the West are imported from those countries, especially China and India. This causes companies to move to those countries because of the cheap labour. That’s one reason why the global economy will shift due to all big companies settling in the East which give more economy involvement from those countries.

Another reason is due to the middle class expanding in East and Southern countries. This reduce poverty which then will lead to more people getting education. A greater educational attainment and health care are improving those countries which reduce the gap between Western and Eastern countries making those countries more involved in the world’s economy. As education will thrive and the gender gap decreases, it will result in countries boosting their productivity significantly.

Are there implications of Eastern/Southern countries taking over the global economy? The answer is yes, of course there are.

Developing countries will have an increase in both influence and economy activity. New markets, competitor and demand will change the patterns of trade. It will also change where goods will be transported and from where. As the developing countries increases their influence, it will bring sweeping cultural changes to the global business and economic landscape.

More than half of the global economy will be in Asia’s hands. It is difficult to predict how they will play their cards holding this power. The countries in the East hold the majority of the world’s nuclear weapons. This play a large role for the future as US and the West will dominate the economic power. Is Asia going to cooperate and further improving the world or is the future marked by conflict and suffering? Unpredictable leadership can employ bellicose language and it will also contribute to regional instability.

Conclusively, what the megatrend is predicting is the truth and is occurring in the world right now. The East and Southern part of the world is gonna dominate the global economy due to their cheap labour and companies moving to those developing countries. The middle class is also expanding in those countries leading to a wealthy country. Consequences of this exists. New markets, competitors and demand will change the patterns of trade and predicting how Asia will play their cards with this kind of power is hard to tell.

This week, Donald Trump announced that he is going to move the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. This is a controversial move because he has declared Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. This can cause chaos because Palestine want Jerusalem.

Depending on the media and newspaper, this topic is written from different perspectives depending on the media's intentions, beliefs, ideology. I will make a comparison between the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet and The US newspaper CNN by notifying the different perspective they are writing from.

The swedish newspaper Aftonbladet seems very anti-Trump by criticizing his choice and saying that he won’t gain anything by making this decision. Aftonbladet recite all of the negative impact this choice will have both in the Middle east and on USA. This could be due to the fact that the swedish media hate on Trump in general. It is not often, if ever, something Trump does adresses positively. Same thing with for instance Sverigedemokraterna which get heavily criticized by the media in Sweden. Many see Sverigedemokraterna and Donald Trump’s politics similar to each other, therefore, both receive hate and criticism.

Aftonbladet continue to criticize Trump how he will increase terror in the US and highlight how this choice will be on the expensive of Palestine. The majority of the article explains how this will upset Palestinians and how this will cause violent demonstrations by Palestinians. They also explains how it will be impossible for the palestinian leader to deal with Israel in the near future.

This really set up two different messages of Palestine.

First, Aftonbladet feel sorry for Palestine how they have to take all the expense of this choice and how they won’t be able to continue to settle with Israel regarding their peace agreement. At the same time, they mention how Palestine will act in a violent way by demonstrating on the streets.

It is hard to determine whether they see it from a pro-Israeli perspective or pro-Palestine perspective. From analysis the article, I would say it is pro-Palestinian because Aftonbladet mention the anger muslims will feel, how they will take the expense of this action and how it will create terror attacks.

The US newspaper CNN explains the situation in a different way than Aftonbladet. They do mention how moving the US embassy to Jerusalem is controversial but they do not criticize the action which Aftonbladet did. This article is way more objective and explains how both Israel and Palestine have responded to this action.

One thing which is different is what the articles focuses on. Aftonbladets main focus was on how it would affect Palestinians and how they would get upset. CNN focuses more on the action at hand, what is happening and why he made this choice. CNN does mention the same thing regarding Palestinians as Aftonbladet, that they will get upset and start doing violent demonstrations. However, it is definitely not the main focus of the article whereas Aftonbladet emphasised this.

CNN is “famous” for being bias towards Trump which can be seen by reading other articles regarding Trump and his politics. This article is not as bias as other articles and I would not say that it really is anti-Trump nor the other way.

To conclude this, It is easy to notice that Aftonbladet is bias towards Trump whereas they continuously criticised Trump’s action without mentioning a single positive outcome of this.

This assignment will be about the education in Sweden. I will mostly be discussing my own opinions about the education in Sweden and how the situation is today. A problem right now is that swedish students perform worse for every year that goes and keep getting worse results according to the results from PISA.

A big issue in Sweden is that a lot of students are jumping off school. For every year that goes, more students decide to jump off school because of several reasons. It could be because they think school puts too much pressure on students nowadays or simply because they don’t have any motivation for studying nor doing homework.

Personally, despite the fact that it is very stressful and all of the unnecessary things you must learn in school, I actually enjoy going to school. Meeting your friends everyday is a joy. But as I said, the school puts a lot of pressure on students and it affects your health in a negative way. Lack of sleep and a poor eating habit is two of the things that happends when you get stressed. Obviously, school isn’t the only thing that puts pressure on students, but students themself. They and even myself sometimes push ourselves more than we can accomplish. Getting an A in every subject isn’t impossible but if you want to achieve it you will have to spend hours of time studying which easily can cause stress which lead to depression in some cases. It doesn’t feel like school want you to rest from all the work for a while.

At the moment, I got Autumn break, but does that mean i actually get a week off to take a break? No, the teachers made sure to give you work so you are being forced to study under the breaks. Right now, I got things to do in almost every subject which we got right before Autumn break and most of the work shall be handed in on the week after Autumn break. If I now would have done all the homework and assignments the teachers handed out before the break when the break is over, I would most likely get a low grade or worse than that, a F.

School and education is not about learning things anymore, it’s about getting good grades.

Another thing about the education which I don’t agree with is all the unnecessary things you learn in school. One example is from two weeks ago when I had a test in natural science. Instead of learning things I can use in the future I had a test which mainly was about rocks. So instead of having things circling around in my head that I actually have use for in the future when i graduate I spent hour after hour studying about rocks. I could right now tell you how a Sedimentary rock is made and where you can find one of those. Or perhaps you would like to know where to find this beautiful rock called Igneous rock. If I go to a job interview or are trying to gert a job, I doubt that information is important. I would rather have studied the hours I spent on the rocktest to work with something that actually will help me. Instead, I could have been taught how to write CV which definitely would help me out.

Those who drop out of school usually ends up having no job nor any income because the ones who hire don’t hire those who didn’t make it through highschool or those who dropped out.

But despite all the negative parts about school, you do learn a lot of necessary things that you will have use for, and I wouldn’t suggest anyone dropping out of school.
