hey, friends ! iâm going to go ahead and leave the roleplay. i know iâm always left wracking my brain when muses leave and iâm not sure how to fill in the gap after they left, so i did a little blurb for everyone below the cut. thanks for all the writing and the great timesâ see you around ! <3
annie:Â she decided to give college in denver another try with the support of her family, especially because they were glad to see her out of shrike after everything that happened. technically even though iâm leaving, she didnât leave the town until spring semester started with plenty of goodbyes. she probably also visits during breaks and all that fun stuff! iâm effectively turning her into an npc lmao. definitely keeps in contact with anyone who wouldâve wanted to.
mathew:Â left with a few goodbyes around early january. couldnât ignore the feeling of restlessness after halloween and decided to put his house on the market and do some traveling with his dog to see what else is out there, since heâs only been in either his hometown or shrike. itâs something heâs always wanted to do but was a little afraid to? no time like the present, when the town is in danger and any day could be someoneâs last. keeps in contact with anyone who wouldâve wanted to.
julien: they left with minimal goodbyes. went back home. after his roommates left, he never really felt he fit in shrike heights anymore or had any reason to stay. they left effective immediately. would not have kept in contact with anyone.
michael:Â he left without any goodbyes. he got a job opportunity outside of shrike that he wasnât about to pass up, since he had no reason to say no or really stay. he left as soon as the new year hit. would only keep in contact with one or two people.
p.s. if youâre reading this and i wrote with you, thank you so much for the threads. seriously, this was one of the most fun places iâve ever been in x) iâm not leaving for any super specific reason, it just feels like itâs time, so i have nothing but love for everyone iâve written with since the start. laters ! donât forget to hydrate.
âyeah, me neither. those shits will probably be too expensive the second theyâre available anyway. weâre a small town. we wonât get those.â he shrugged it off. to be fair, he was scared of being too dumb to use them. he could barely use an actual telephone- and he would never go near a telephone booth- it was too complicated. he had used the fax here and there, but he hated it. he liked to stick to his basics. he didnât like adapting. he liked his register machine. nothing more from that. âi mean, itâs nice, not going to lie. but i also get yelled at for not tidying up my room. at my age?â to be fair, his dad probably forgot he was over thirty. and in some way, it was nice that he was remembered at all. sometimes his father forgot he had a son, so if he thought he had a teenager was good enough for adi. he didnât want to complain too much for things that gave him a slight joy. âoh, yeah- huge. definitely-â adi rolled his eyes. as if annie didnât know him enough to know he was a walking dating disaster. âokay, now i know you were not serious about asking meâŚâ he rolled his eyes. âlisten, it would be a problem if i had a date. but bringing people over is annoying in general when my parents ask me if thatâs who iâm dating. it used to be only girls at some point, now theyâve even talked to me about liking men as well- like⌠itâs a problem. i donât want to talk to my old folks aboutâŚ. sexuality.â
annie couldnât help but think a little more now on the pros and cons of still living with her family; of course sheâd already thought about it enough times to wear a dent in the floor from all the included pacing, but adi was living the possibility, so it was a little different now hearing what he thought about it. then when he mentioned knowing she was only joking around, she set the dilemma aside and chuckled. âsorry, it was impossible not to tease you about it. it was the opportunity of a lifetime.â and then suddenly, living back with her family was looking slightly less appealing than it already was thanks to the possibility of them snooping into her personal life as well. âyikes.â annie couldnât help but grimace a bit. âthatâs... awkward as hell. iâm sure they mean well, but i donât think anyone wants to talk to their parents about that kinda stuff.â she hadnât entirely figured the whole sexuality thing out herself, but her dad was the last person sheâd want to have that discussion with. âwhere are they now?â she looked around as if expecting theyâd appear without warning, suddenly a bit worried about being pulled into such a discussion. âi can pretend to have a boyfriend or something if they start harping on you while iâm here?â

âcrazy ideas?â adi couldnât say he was even considering anything crazier than just sit under one of those standing fire places or whatever they were called, and laugh at the people rolling down the hill like every single winter special cartoon. it was a favorite pastime of his, he had to admit. âoh, you mean- like.. me going up there? ha! it would be a suicide to me. a fun one, for sure.â adi scoffed and took a sip of warm wine, so far the best thing to ever come from the lodge and every winter thing. âunless you got a defibrillator with you, then iâm down to try it out.â he smirked. he had no plans to move from his seat. âdepends. if itâs a young person, then itâs⌠definitely admirable. theyâre trying to better themselves. anyone past thirty-five, what the fuck are they doing?â he laughed softly. he knew he was not exactly old either, but even without his heart condition, he wasnât sure his hips and knees would hold after a fall.Â
mathew couldnât help but give the other an odd look at his statement, a mixture of confusion and amusement, before chuckling quietly. âi used to ski a little bit past thirty-five.â not by much, but he wasnât going to let adi know that he was right in his estimate. at a certain point, skiing just wasnât worth the risk of injury or extended recovery time. âyou know... people donât turn into dust and stop trying to improve as soon as they hit that age. now iâm concerned if you think iâm even capable of opening a pickle jar by myself,â he joked before taking another careful sip of his hot drink. age was something mathew would always laugh about as opposed to be offended by acknowledging, so he found adiâs observation humorous more than anything. âarenât you getting close to hitting that point? i canât remember off the top of my head, but i hope youâre planning for retirement soon. the pharmacy has a great deal on walkers right now that i recommend you check out.â
âiâm not saying itâs bad luck not to build a snowman before christmas, but... itâs bad luck not to build a snowman before christmas.â annie had already grown tired of being stuck inside for the winter activities, so now it was time to brave the cold and do something snow-related outside before she got restless and did something reckless like try her hand at skiing once again (she hadnât faceplanted too badly, but had been far from graceful). âdo you have anything we can use for the snowman? iâm volunteering my scarf and... scrunchie? i guess a snowman can have a half ponytail somehow. weâll figure it out. why the hell not.â
âare you kidding ? youâd place first. even if i have to accidentally smash someone elseâs globe.â the young woman deadpanned with a shrug and then chuckled. âiâd place, like, seventh in that contest.â she admitted with a shrug. âthe holidays in new york are all about shopping, complaining about the weather and ice skating. not a lot of fun if you love the snow and are too broke to shop at new york prices.â ali replied with a laugh. âof course i have. i used to come here with my dad a lot.â alicia nodded. âiâm gonna be rusty at painting these but i will try my best, i promise.â
âi would accidentally do the same for you,â annie commented with the same seriousness before breaking into a grin. âkidding. or not?â sheâd honestly feel too badly wrecking someone elseâs project, but there was no reason she couldnât have fun with the devious idea for a moment. âit sounds like most of what i already doâ the complaining and skating around. iâm practically a new yorker,â she scoffed in amusement. aliâs time away had always fascinated annie, given the farthest sheâd ever gone to was denver. âhow about a friendly competition? we could pick a theme and then see whose embodies the spirit or whatever. thatâs a holiday thing i think.â
âokay how does this look ?â ali asked the other with a grin, despite being well aware that her snow globe looked rather⌠interesting, to put it kindly. she had messed up the color scheme she originally wanted, and the more she tried to fix it, the worse it looked. âitâs so gorgeous, isnât it ?â the young blonde asked with a chuckle.
âitâs...â julien wasnât sure if he should lie. or how they ended up in this situation in the first place? theyâd agreed to tag along only because of silvio, but it seemed like heâd wandered off with and left julien with the blonde. âyou could do better. it looks like a kid made it,â he finally said with a chuckle of his own. âwhat were you even going forâ a fruitcake globe or somethinâ?â not that his was much better, but heâd avoid talking about his mess of a snow globe as long as possible.
âi hope you arenât getting any crazy ideas.â just on his way to greet adi, mathew had seen two separate people fall over on the slopes, and each time he had taken a small pause to watch that they got up alright before letting out a breath. âtheyâre determined, at least.â everyone mustâve been feeling particularly adventurous this year... but, mathew had promised himself not to think too much about it while out; the avoidance had been surprisingly helpful so far. all he wanted to do was enjoy the cold weather with hot chocolate in hand and catch up with adi for a minute. âwhat do you think? is it foolish or commendable that people are trying the slopes obviously above their skillset?â

âi wouldnât say iâm a snow globe making expert,â she pretended to brag, âbut if there was a contest on it, iâd place at least third.â the confidence came with the fact that annie made a snow globe practically every year once the lodges opened upâ they were extremely customizable and she found them calming once shook as the snow settled down. with everything that had happened in shrike heights so far, calm (but still fun) was exactly the kind of atmosphere she was looking to partake in. âi know itâs probably a little corny compared to whatever cool things they do in new york for the holidays, but still. youâve made one of these before right?â annie asked as they reached the table.
âWell I guess thatâs one way to find out. If he tries charging you more than like 60 bucks heâs probably got a bone to pick with you, Annie,â he joked. She didnât handle nearly as much of the shit Ian did in their past. He admired that integrity though he had a feeling he didnât have an intimidating bone in his body and he was pretty sure that was clear to others as well; that was probably why he spent more times as the target than anything else. Still heâd rather be seen as a pushover over an asshole so it all came out in the wash. âIt depends on the cookie I think. Some stuff is hard but you can make cookies out of three ingredients if you wanted,â mixing up one to one ratios of things couldnât be that much harder than store bought. Ian wouldnât know though he enjoyed the work that came with baking and never found any part of it a chore. âI got a roll of those PIllsburyâs Best cookies the other night. For a premade dough it wasnât half bad.âÂ
He hadnât expected to be asked further about cooking. It caught him off guard. He was usually the one listening to others, stoking them with further questions that he was surprised to be put in the other position. Ian found himself to be a pretty boring individual that was why he surrounded himself with the folks he did. He shrugged his shoulder heâd never thought about cookies in the realm they played in and it was throwing him for a loop. âSometimes, yeah. Nothing crazy though. Just pigs in blankets or like mac and cheese sometimes. We usually order a pizza or something most of the time,â he confessed. Nothing beat pizza especially when the group often wound up with an ability to acquire the cheesy delicacy for free. âWeâre not a band of kings so I donât know how much access our campaign would have to sugar, you know? If I tried making the food theyâre packing with them on their adventures itâd be pretty bad. Hardtack is pretty bland stuff.â The group would have to have some pretty phenomenal rolls for Ian to foresee them ever in a situation where theyâd wind up getting some cookies.Â
âitâd be just my luck i show up and it turns out i did fight him once,â she chuckled, somewhat proud of her history even if it could cause a little issue every now and then. most people were over their high school days anyway. annie already apologized where she saw fitâ not to everyone, since not everyone deserved a sorry based on the situation, but that didnât matter right now. she could make a list of enemies later. thankfully the list of people who held grudges was pretty short. instead of focusing too much on that, she listened to ian with a few nods to show she was paying attention as they walked.
âsounds like you guys like to keep it sorta realistic then.â she was admittedly curious about the group, but at the same time, annie wasnât confident in her ability to keep up with something as detailed as d&d, so she kept it to the occasional question. she paused her reply to do a quick scan and turns into the proper isle as she looked for the last of her foodsâ snacks. âyou should be able to have pringles then!â she exclaimed suddenly. âitâs just ground up potatoes and water, and a really cool chip press.â of course it was probably a little more complicated than that, but if pizza was alright, why not barbeque pringles? she reached up on her tiptoes for two of the cans before setting them carefully in the cart. âi think itâd be cool if you did a feast day or something. if you ever needed help, iâm not great at cooking or anything, but i could chip in.â

âYOUâVE got to be kidding me,â ike scoffed, rewinding a cd for what mightâve been the fifth time. âhow are you not picking up on this, man? this dude might be playing flatter than my high school girlfriend. i donât know how you listen to this drivel.â he swatted at the cd player, face twisted like heâs had a lemon in his mouth since he woke up in the morning. âdrummer sounds like shit too. who taught him how to keep tempo?â he finished his tirade after finally letting the music fade out, seething hotter than the coffee he was sipping. ike swung himself stop the checkout counter and sat so his legs hung off the other side. âdo you listen to anything that doesnât, i donât know ⌠suck complete ass?â
âwell iââ he stopped as ike ranted, michael conflicted between respecting the brutal honestly and being offended that the other had essentially stomped his music tastes into the ground. maybe he could be both: respectfully irritated sounded like a nice middle ground. âcanât imagine anyone takes music classes here,â he muttered with a bit of hurt pride. âyou probâly make âem cry.â which shouldnât have sounded as funny as it felt the moment he said it? okay, he couldnât stay mad. he finally cracked a smile. âcan i have my cd back before you make me cry? jesus.â michael wasnât much of a music person, much preferring other arts, so it was no surprise the first time he wanted to share something he liked, it wasnât up to ikeâs absurd standards.

jupiter gasped , hands in gloves wet from snow coming up to cover his shocked expression as he stared at what he had done . his friend had already fled the scene , having bolted down the icy sidewalk out of view , and now jupiter was left to take the entire blame . â i am so so so sorry . â he winced as he stepped closer to the person now covered in snow . â i was aiming for my friend , i didnât see you coming , you happened to step right in front of him just as i had already thrown it . â the anxiety made him squirm ; he felt nothing short of guilty and a little terrified after having thrown a large snowball at an unsuspecting victim . â iâm really so sorry - please , what can i do to make it right ? â
leave it to michael to walk right into the middle of a snowball fight, when heâd taken this route specifically to avoid foot traffic as he made his way towards a much-needed dose of caffeine. he was too stunned to respond at first, slowly brushing the snow off his face and jacket as it registered before his eyes found the perpetrator. â... sâalright.â he was annoyed, sure, but there wasnât much that could be done past the apologies heâd already been given. unless, âyou could let me make it even,â he said in all seriousness and without even so much as a waver of sarcasm. but truthfully michael didnât intend to throw any snow at the poor guyâ he was just curious to see what the reaction would be.
