It had been around three months since your “friend?” was thrown into jail. You saw the news, he killed three people and attempted to kill himself. That wasn’t the person you thought he was at all. The both of you had gone on a few dates at least that’s what you thought they were but now you were worried that he was plotting to kill you this whole time. He just.. seemed so caring, the way he would look at you while you drank your coffee at the cafe. Luckily he was behind bars now, or so you thought. You were laying in bed getting ready to fall asleep when there was a breaking news announcement. It ran across your screen with that blaring alarm. He had escaped? You could feel the blood coursing through your veins, you were terrified. What if he came to kill you? You tried to calm yourself down, there’s no way he’d show up, right? Is what you told yourself. You turned off the television and rolled over on your side. You calmed your breathing and eventually began to drift off. There was a crash from downstairs and your eyes shot open, your tiredness immediately gone now. You shot up straight in bed and froze waiting for another sound but of course you heard nothing.

You put yourself together and stood up from your bed. You quickly reached down for one of your shoes. You tiptoed down your stairs to the kitchen where you heard the crash. You walked in the kitchen being greeted by Beyond in your fridge like a rat. You screamed, the shoe flinging out of your hand towards the head of the man in the orange jumper. Beyond let out a pained wince, looking at you like you had hurt him emotionally. You were petrified. He was going to kill you, even though you were set on that conclusion you still quietly pleaded out to him. “Don’t kill me..” BB stood up straight and walked over to you, you tensed up expecting something rough, a punch, a kick something. However you were given a soft hand to your cheek. “I can’t” He told you, he said it in a way that left no room for arguing. Beyond looked different he was covered in burns.. It made your heart hurt despite knowing how he got them. “I need you.. I need to stay here” You flinched back, your head trying to wrap around what was going on. He wasn’t going to kill you and he needed you? He had to be lying.. But a part of you wanted to believe it.

Against your better judgement you nodded and looked at him. “You really mean that? That you won’t harm me?” You asked, your voice still a tad shaky and low with sleep. Beyond quickly replied “Can’t.” Correcting you.. It wasn’t that he wouldn’t but he physically couldn't. How could he be so sure? “How.. how do you know you won’t get the..urge to?” You asked slowly backing away from the hand that was on your face. BB went quiet for a bit before he realized if he wanted for you to hide him in his place he’d have to tell you everything. He let his hand fall quickly and he took your hand, pulling you to your couch. He sat down and began to tell you everything. You almost didn’t want to believe him, wanted to write him off as being insane but you couldn’t. His eyes were boring into yours. He was serious, he meant every word he was telling you. You had no other choice but to believe that he could somehow see lifespans. This felt.. right like loose ends were being mended. There was a part in your subconscious that knew that weird guy you went on dates with was the true him. Now you had a choice on if you’d become a criminal yourself to hide him and keep him safe. “I need it to be you.” He said in his creepy yet sweet tone, his hand reaching out for yours again but this time it wasn't taking you anywhere, it was keeping you in place. You looked around the dark living room. You gave a shallow gulp and for the second time that night you went against your better judgement. “Okay..” You stood up and grabbed the blanket that was draped on the nearby chair. You walked to him and handed him the blanket. “Goodnight Beyond.” You let your words linger in the air before walking up to your bedroom. You were really letting a murderer crash on your couch.. And you had no problem with it.

He wrapped his arms around your back and pressed you close against him. Your face brushed against his burnt face, it was rough yet comforting. He leaned in close to your ear and whispered. “I couldn’t go without seeing you ever again.” He said, holding you there for the rest of the night.
