Ok after lots of calibration and tinkering i finally got a print that i am pretty damn happy with. I ordered Red and White filament to complete this job!..

You can actually read the writing on the bottom compared to the last attempt!

Let me know if there is anything else i should try printing next!

ok so i saw this awesome video on youtube and really wanted to print one out. Not sure if my printer is up for it but thought i would give it a go.

It printed pretty well however my circles are still not coming out as good as i would have hoped!

The thread came out really well though so if it was printed more round it might have worked a lot better.

It did start to screw together but doesn’t go all the way in.

Also the words on the bottom did not print out as well but the circles have definitely improved. I tightened the y axis, i think it’s time to take a look at the x axis and i hope it improves the situation.

So it seems you can add simple scripts to run before your print starts so what i did was move the extruder to an empty part of the bed and extrude for 40mm to prep the extruder, This makes sure that when the print starts the hotend has been wiped clean and is primed!

This works amazingly! I also got a gluestick and put some on the print bed to help hold down the print.

I finally got a build complete and completed the torture test!

You can see the prep line at the bottom which worked great. I also removed the raft and the outline. However i think the text on the bottom still didn’t come out as well as i had hoped.

This might be due to the loose belt so more tuning is needed.

turns out my printer was only printing 96mm of filament when i tried to extrude 100mm. after following that guide i was able to print 100mm per 100mm which hopefully should improve my settings.

After adding these settings in and calibrating i ran this simple test to test my stringing issues which i found on thingiverse > https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1240361

They printed almost perfect! just the first layer on the first cube didn’t work as the printer didn’t start extruding right away.

Ok we are getting very close!

This time combined with the raft and outline it finally stuck better and almost finished the print.

Once again the hotend hit the print and dislodged it. grrr more levelling required.

ok this time i connected the raft to the print itself by setting 9mm offset and also added an outline to the print to further help stick it down.

I also spent a lot of time trying to get the bed perfectly level.

It also failed :( but we are getting closer!

So after some tweaking to the printer settings, I also added a raft to the print to try and help it stick down better.

It also failed just a few layers in! more tweaking needed!

It slipped from the bed while printing very early on so it seems i need to find something to stick it down.

First print came out pretty bad, Using the el cheapo filament they provided with the kit. You can see it isn’t printing circles very well and lots of stringing issues.

It’s finally built, Took about 5hrs over 2 days and only ran into a few issues with this kit.

I was quite surprised how well it went together considering how cheap it was.

There were many people posting about issues they had with this build but i did not have any of them, I think they may have revised their kit.

Some posted about issues getting the z axis on, mine fit perfectly like a glove with very little play.

Other issues were a wobbly build platform but mine turned out quite sturdy.

Lastly the only other issues i had were due to me accidentally putting the z and y limiters in the wrong places, but i quickly fixed that.
