Virtual assistant tools are on the huge rise in social with Facebook introducing them into messenger and Google integrating them with new applications.

It is determined that a virtual assistant can perform more complex tasks like navigating medical records or accessing if someone is having a heart attack at the time of the call.

With the help of virtual assistants, consumers in society can receive a faster resolution of their queries and leads to easier daily life activities. Therefore, it is stated that the involvement of virtual assistants in social life may helpful and positively impact on the culture of the consumers should manage their activities and use.

The above picture is an Ad that is against smoking. The bottom of the picture states "Kill a Cigarette and Save a Life. Yours." It is taking pictures of people smoking and creating the illustration of a cigarette killing them. It's not doing it in a realistic fashion (i.e. It's not showing a picture of a smoke-filled lung or a man battling cancer or anything like that), but it's taking a more abstract route of illustrating how cigarettes kill you. The main message is that smoking a cigarette is equivalent to suicide; you're slowly killing yourself and fully knowing what may happen. It does this by taking the smoke that you breathe out because of the cigarette and twists it in such a way that it illustrates a woman in a noose (hanging herself). This is a common way that people will commit suicide and this ad is attempting to compare them with smoking. The smoke itself can be considered a vector leading from the cigarette to arguably vulnerable spots on the human body.

This is a Timberland shoe advertisement. In the advertisement, you can see an image of a man looking as if he was running fiercely. The ad provides an argument and that it tries to persuade people to agree that this brand of shoes will help you to outrun the grizzly bear and the hungry wolf as shown in the image. So basically, it tries to persuade people that they have one of the fastest running shoes and that you need their shoes that can run fast otherwise you will end up as food the next time you go camping or into the woods.

Data really has become a buzzword, and that's because of its importance. The presence of data helps businesses make smart decisions, and it minimises inefficiencies and time lost on guesswork as we are in an advanced digital era where consumers have become savvier in the use of digital communications technologies.

One thing that distinguishes these new Comms tech from other forms of media is the ability to gather 'anonymised' consumer data at a deep and personal level. These could include their demographic, geographic and psychographic information. I once had a meeting with a marketing director, and in the meeting, one of the creative directors went on talking about how the consumers love the brand and would stick with the brand no matter what, even if it's pricier than the competitors. He sounded very believable, but after his speech, the marketing director logged on to his laptop pulled up a recent data and showed that the brand had lost about 10% market share in less than 3months and would still lose more if it continues at that level. One key lesson from that encounter is that when there is no data, all you have is an opinion and not fact.

So what is data? This is information in numerical form that can be digitally transmitted or processed. Today there are petabytes of data available globally, and it grows. It's the same way it is impossible for a man to consume the total amount of contents produced in a day, but with the help of digital tools like Tableau and Power BI, these data can be aggregated and analysed, data is best productive when there's a clear, actionable insight generated from it.

For example, there are 200 million people in Nigeria is Data, what's the insight, what does that tell me? Does it mean, there's high birth rate or that the economy is thriving or suffering??

There are generally two types of data. Quantitative and qualitative. Qualitative involves data that derived through observation and interviews, (non-numerical) it can't be measured and many times subjective because it borders on experience and perspective of the consumer. Quantitative Data: Quantitative data are measurable data that are analysed through numerical comparisons and statistical inferences. It can be measured and verified. Strategy in itself is simply a plan of action to achieve a certain goal.

As a planner, who is working on a project for an established brand, or small business, there are some processes that I engage in, and I will share them as unambiguously as possible.

First is defining the objective, what does the brand seek to achieve through this initiative, this start point is quite an important cos it guides you through other processes. For example, We need 300,000 people who are between the age of 25-40 and live in a semi-urban area of Nigeria to purchase our new product. This already shows that it is a conversion campaign; at other time, it could even be an engagement campaign. The objectives of any campaign could be to retain customers, acquire new customers, grow revenue and/or increase competitive advantage.

In understanding the competitive landscape, There's a need to dig deep into the nuance of the category, footprints and activities of your competition, direct and indirect competition. This is where data begins to come into play both qualitative and quantitative data. For a digital strategy, there are other tools that can assist in giving information about my competition.

Google Trends: I use Google Trends to understand the volume of search queries for certain competition over time. This helps to know which brands lead in search and what consumers are searching for.

I could deep dive into this with a keyword planner (or Ahrefs) to have even more insights about the exact keywords driving this.

As a brand, I would be curious to know why more time is spent on my competitor's platform and less on mine. Do I need to tweak the UI, do a split test to know the contents that need to be retained or removed?

The past Months on Twitter has really been dramatic as there has been serious Purge of accounts on Twitter. With Twitter suspending a lot of accounts on their platforms without even notifying some. After conversations with some of the suspended users and with my experience of Twitter usage. I will be sharing some key things you need to note while using twitter to prevent your account from being suspended.

1.) Avoid Mass Following and Unfollowing

According to twitter Rules, Twitter does not permit any automated or bulk following or unfollowing behaviour, and the limit which an account can follow on a spree is 30 accounts, Every Twitter account can follow up to 400 accounts per day. Verified Twitter accounts can follow up to 1,000 accounts per day. Continuously following users aggressively puts an eye on your account as Twitter monitors all accounts for aggressive following and follow churn, which can get your account suspended for violations of the Twitter Rules prohibiting spam.

Also, note that you should not follow a user you have unfollowed previously, this can also get your account suspended.

2.)  Avoid Posting Contents/Materials You do not Own! ‘Copyright’

Another major reason for large chunks of accounts suspended on twitter is due to violation of the Twitter ‘Copyright Policy’. According to Twitter, You are not allowed to post contents you do not own or haven’t been authorized from the original owner to post, which are visible in profile photos, header photos, background images, Twitter-hosted media (e.g., pic.twitter.com), and Periscope broadcasts. Twitter frowns strongly at this, and if your account is reported, you can get a temporary or permanent suspension. 

So Avoid posting contents you do not own, and if your original content has been posted on the app by another user, you can make a report here to fill twitter copyright infringement form.

3.) Avoid fake or artificial account interactions and engagements.

The urge to have a lot of followers fast has made people go to the extent of buying followers, retweets and likes on the micro-blogging platform. There are a lot of these applications claiming to help get followers quickly, and some do ask for money for followers or ask you to follow a list of some particular accounts in order to participate. Twitter is against such, and this sits on top of their violation rules. Using these programs is not allowed according to the Twitter Rules. 

Therefore, this can get your account permanently suspended due to violations of the Twitter Rules prohibiting spam.

According to Twitter, When you give out your Login details or grant access to another website or app, you are giving control of your account to someone else, so If a third-party application causes your twitter account to violate the Twitter Rules, your account may be suspended.

4.) Avoid Posting 'Problematic' Contents

This might sound strange to some people, but to some users who have been suspended in the past for these, they will understand better.

Problematic tweets are contents posted to cause unrest in the public space, Fake news, Fake election results, distribution of hacked or illegal materials, 

In 2018, Twitter updated its election integrity measures to ensure the improvement of the health of public conversation on Twitter and protecting the integrity of elections as an essential part of that mission.

Several accounts were taken down from different countries for violations as part of the election integrity efforts in different countries including Iran, Nigeria and other countries.

So to avoid suspension, Avoid problematic contents and don’t let your page be a problematic account.
