One of my VERY best friends requested I do a azul fic with their twst sona- Finn. so this is NOT azul x reader, it is azul x OC. Hope you still like it though đ
Your thoughts havenât been the nicest to you lately. As you stare up at the ceiling riddled with cobwebs and the faint smell of rotting wood, you get a horrible tug at your heart. A small, trivial thing, really because the truth is that youâre probably going to be here for the rest of your life. So why care so much about what you canât have? Soft ticking is the only sound that reminds you that youâre still here. Oh right, the clock. What time is it? A glance at the large grandfather clock tells you itâs somewhere between 12 and 1 in the morning. Hm.Â
You shift in your bed again, trying to find a comfortable position to be in.Â
Why me? Itâs not like Iâve dreamed of ever being whisked away to some far off-land with no contact to my loved onesâAnd even if I did, why did it actually happen? I never even got to say goodbye.
Light giggling reminds you of the ghosts, who are probably finding immense humor in your contemplation.
What do I do?âŚI mean, like, even after I graduate, where am I gonna go? Everyone here could kill me with the flick of their pen! I really hope that doesnât happen, pleasedonâtletthathappen tomeIdonâtwannadie-
You slowly rise from the uncomfortable bed and step slowly across the creaky floors. Your mind considers what the noise could have possibly been. An intruder? The ghosts messing around again? A sign from above to just go to sleep?
Whatever the cause, you keep creeping inside the house, careful not to make too much racket.Â
You feel your heart drop, wasting no time to snap your head behind you and-
Itâs just the shitty windows.
Jeez, no wonder itâs so fucking cold! You roll your eyes, noting how dry they are from being awake for so long.
You reach the open window and take a glance outside. It seemsâŚpeaceful, almost. Somehow the quietness isnât suffocating for once, itâs actually pretty comforting. You sit on the window sill, hands absentmindedly drifting down to the ends of your uniform.Â
Maybe you just need to be outside. Considering all the bullshitâI mean really, 3 overblots?âyouâve had to go through I mean itâs only fair to lash out a bit and isolating yourself will just make it easier on others, right? If you just separate yourself from everyone and donât make any relationships with anyone then no one will have to put up with you!âŚYou really need to step outside.
Carefully, you crawl out the window and a gust of wind sends shivers down your spine. You grip your jacket a bit harder. You shut the the window and latch the flimsy, rusted lock just for a sense of security.
You begin to walk around, the dried leaves crunching under your feet. Occasionally you enjoy watching birds, but it seems none are out tonight. Guess youâll have to settle for the beach.
Youâre extra quiet as you reach the mirror chambers, inexplicably nervous.Â
Why? Itâs not like Iâm doing anything wrong, right?
Something about creeping around on the beach at 2 in the morning doesnât seem very normal to you.Â
As you finally make it to the sand, you slide your shoes off and leave them behind a rock, silently hoping they wonât get stolen.
Well theyâre worn out and have several holesâŚI donât think anyoneâs gonna steal them.Â
Slowly you walk down to where the water is and take a deep breath, the smell of salt water relaxing you a bit.Â
You lazily start drawing patterns on the wet sand, enjoying how it feels between your fingertips. It kind of reminds you of home, whenever youâd play in the mud. RightâŚHome.
The repetitive sound of the waves crashing down is enough to make you finally feel a bit tired. Not really enough to make you wanna lie down but itâs getting there.
The 4 minutes of peace you had are interrupted by your peripheralâs saying you arenât alone out here.Â
Was thatâŚA fish? I think the sleep deprivation is getting to me, why would there be a fish nearly twice the size of me?Â
You try to return to your original position drawing shapes in the sand, but the pit of fear in your stomach wonât let you focus on just the sand. Who was that? Why are they here? Did I do something? Are they gonna hurt me?
Your breath has gotten a lot quicker and you find yourself looking side to side every few seconds, hands shaking with anxiety.
You squeeze your eyes shut and mutter a desperate prayer, grasping for anything to calm your panic after realizing a six-foot creature had been in the same water you were paddling in just moments ago.
If anyone is really out there orâif many people are out there!! Please donât let me die like this, I know I may not have much to offer the world but I try my best to be a good person so stuff like this wonât happen to me, please donât let me get killed off by some horror beyond my comprehension, I really-
The sound of some very polished shoes stepping on a seashell seem to make you open your eyes.
At the sight of a dark figure looming over you, all the blood in your body turns icy cold. You stare up and this figure, praying itâs not the Grim Reaper or something.
âAh, Finn! Funny seeing you here!â
You rub your eye and his face   starts to come into view. He seems a lot more jittery than usual. Like heâs been waiting for you or something.
âAzul? Is that you?â You ask, voice a bit shaky.
âYes, it is. You donât seem to be doing very well, prefect. Youâre all nervous and your body posture is just..â He vaguely gestures at you.
ââŚWhy are you here?â
The question makes him a bit surprised and he looks as if youâve asked a crazy question.
How did he know I was out here??? Was he the weird thing I saw in the world? But surely notâŚI mean, Heâs completely dry now, soâŚ?
He clears his throat and sits down next to you, muttering something about the sand scratching up his coat.
âWell as it appears, I happened to be informed of your presence and decided it would be most appropriate to come out here and see how the it is youâre dealing with everything.â
What? Dealing with everything? What, like the time you over blotted right in front of me and I almost seen you die? Like the time you made me basically become a servant in order to get my friends out of your reach? Wait, no I mean you were really stressed out and to be fair I think Iâd be upset if all my lifeâs work was just turned to dust in front of my eyesâYou know, I, I take it back!! I didnât mean to talk bad about you I just- You always sound so condescending and-
His voice is soft, and for a second you can almost hear a tone of worry in the way he speaks. Why does he care so much?
âOh, uh sorry I just spaced out for a second. Iâm fine I guess?â
You respond, but it sounds more like a question than an answer.
âWell you certainly donât look it. Whenâs the last time you changed out this coat of yours?âÂ
He starts to poke around at the jacket tied around your waist, pulling back as if it burns to touch for too long.
Whatâs this assholes problem? First he comes up to you after getting âtold you were out hereâ and now heâs making fun of how you dress?
You scoot away a bit, trying to get him to quit.
âUh I donât know? Iâve been busy with school andâŚstuff.â
âHm. Well, nonetheless, you seem troubled. Feel free to tell me about any of your issues.â
Is he trying to comfort me?
ââŚI think Iâm good.â
This whole conversation has given you a headache.Â
Wobbly, you get up, patting the sand off your butt as the sound of the waves seem to get louder.
âI just need some time alone, and youâve kinda ruined that.â
He seems dumbfounded, shocked at the idea that he wasnt needed, that his services werenât being served.
âButâBut Finn!, Why wonât you talk to me?â
âBecause I donât want to?â
Your voice has taken up a bit of tone, and everythingâs getting a bit too loud for your comfort.
âFinn, come on, I can be a great listener you know, I used to even offer therapy services but then when you came here the market got really dry since they ended up going to you and-â
âAzul, IâŚI think Iâm go.â
âVery well. Goodbye then.â
His mood changed immediately, going from a pleading business man to  cold and dramatic.
He gets up, this time making sure you can hear his muttering about the sand getting on his uniform and eventually walks away, and becomes another blur in your field of vision.Â
Well so much for an exit. Now it just feels like heâs the one who left you alone. That was what you wanted, right?
The migraine pounds repeatedly in your head, faint ringing in your ears.
Great. Black dots dance around your peripherals and you wonder if itâs the lack of sleep or just the stress getting to you. The only thing you can really make out is the fact that youâre walking.Â
A change in light makes you squint. Is the sun rising already.?
Another night without sleep.
Another night where you get nothing done.
Another night where you push yourself away.
The only form of comfort you can find at the moment is the damp sand between your toes as you walk down the line of the beach.Â
Wait, sand? Whereâs yourâŚ.Oh.
You cover your face in frustration, tugging at your hair.
Why is the universe just AGAINST me?! Of course I have to walk ALL the way back just for my stupid shoes. What did I do to deserve living a life like this? Can anyone hear me?
You rub at your eye, trying to focus your attention on finding said shoes. Not like you can afford other ones.
You realize you should most likely just turn around and try to retrace your steps
An hour of wandering half blind on the beach tell you that doesnât work.
At this point youâre so exhausted you consider laying down and sleeping on the sand.  At least you feel tried enough to do so.
You keep treading, and your feet eventually find concrete.Â
Concrete? Werenât you just on the-
The smell of rotting wood and rustling leaves makes you realize youâve some how made it all the way back to Ramshackle.
âŚSleep. I need some sleep.
You weakly climb up and fiddle with the window until a faint memory of you locking it brings you all the way to the front door.
Where do we keep the spare key again?âŚ
You bend down and feel around the small potted plants that your roommate has put up.Â
Too bad theyâve been too busy to actually water them, and the primroses are dying from the winter frost.
Your hand grazes something metal and finally finding the spare key almost brings a smile to your face.
You insert the key and just shove it the pockets of your jacket as you enter.Â
The floorboards creak under you as you put a hand out to feel your surroundings, vision not helping at all.
âPUT YOUR HANDS UP, FUCKFACE!â
You jump and turn around as the lights flicker on and you can somewhat make out a figure standing across from you, wielding some wooden object.
The blinding of the lights hitting you makes you cover botheyes, backing up and tripping on something.Â
âWho are you! Why the fuck are you in here?! Start answering me or I swear to the FUCKING bible I willââ
The figure drops whatever it is they held, and it rolls around the floor near your feet. You can hear a gasp.
âFinn?! What the hell happens to you? ItâsâItâs 4 in the morning!â
âI went out for a walk.â
They run up to you and get a bit too close for comfort. At least this way you can somewhat make out what they look like.
Their hair all messy and it seems like theyâve just come out of bed. The object they seemed to be holding was a wooden bat.
âA walk?! Youâre covered in sand, thereâs dirt covering your entire right arm, and youâre barefoot! Are you sure you didnât get drugged or somethingâ
âWell I was just walking on the sand- and then Azul showed up for some reason- my shoes disappeared! And- and- I couldnât find the key because you wonât water the flowers!â
You stammer and your voice is shaky. Why canât you just go back to sleep?
ââŚOh shoot I forgot about those flowers.â
âWell, uh- either way, you seriously need to wash up. Iâll start a bath for you andââ
You donât let them finish, interrupting before they offer you more things.
âI can do it justâŚleave me alone.â
They back up, realizing how in your face they were.
ââŚright. Okay well, itâs too early to go back to sleep so Iâm gonna get ready for school I guess. God I hate Mondays..â
They stand back up and extend a hand to you, which you begrudgingly take.
Standing up and slowly making your way to the bathroom, the door clicks closed behind you.
You open the front door, only to be greeted by rain showers.
A gust of wind and lightning tells you school wonât be in session today.
You glance down, and see the very same shoes you had lost, paired with a note.Â
Picking the shoes up, you see the holes were sewn shut and embroidered with what seems like fine silk.Â
âYou forgot your shoes and finding them so disheveled is quite disappointing.â
Thereâs some writing scribbled out.
âYou are now indebted to me and to repay me I was consideringâ
âPlease reach out to me whenever it is you can. Your feelings unfortunately burden me as much as they do you.Â
A small chuckle leaves your lips before you can stop it.
The thunder cracks down harder.
