Hey everyone! Your long-awaited oft-missed Sunday Update!

Much of my progress report has little to do with actual progress on the show being produced. The last couple of weeks have seen me trying to make a HUGE mental/physical/emotional shift in my life. Some highlights:

* I came out to friends and family

*I started a new exercise plan/diet (and lost 8 lbs!)

*I’ve worked on earning my tutor’s certification

*I’ve booked several Seattle theater auditions

*I’ve tried to connect with friends I haven’t spoken to in years

*I’m working to change the culture of Sexual Assault and Harassment on my old college campus.

*In connection with above, I’m working with WA state legislators to draft a law that would require mandatory consent education in WA public schools

All this to say, my capacity for working on 2213 has been thin at best in the last few weeks. Writing the show was beginning to feel like a chore, which was stifling my creative process. I hope that in making these big life changes, 2213 can become the joyous project it once was.

Thus, I hope you’ll forgive me on this, I won’t be promising any more deadlines for completed written episodes or future production updates. I love this show, and I know many of you believe in it. I have gained some amazing collaborators in this process, and we all lead busy lives and are all working on being more forgiving when we’re not able to devote as much attention to this project as we would like.

Hello, lovelies!

First off, MAJOR apologies for going AWOL in the last couple of weeks. I’m not intentionally staying silent, I swear. I could list the seemingly thousands of reasons as to why I haven’t been able to update (applying to grad school, illness, job stress, money stress, other major life changes etc.) but really what I’d rather do is apologize.

First off, there’s a mixed bag of news coming your way. I’ll start with the not-so-good news and then end on some positive notes.

It’s really hard for me to stick to a consistent writing schedule at the moment. Episode 4 (now officially titled “Scandal”) has been sitting half-finished in my drive for about a month now and I’ve had very little opportunity to work on it. Some of you may know, I’m a full-time 4th/5th grade teacher, and that job sucks a majority of my time and energy away, and when I come upon the weekends I’m able to do little else but rest and catch my breath. I try to write some every week, but the pace is nowhere near as fast as I’d like it to be.

All this amounts to: I can’t guarantee finish dates for individual episodes. I will tell you this -- I’m hoping to have season one done by February of next year (which also happens to be the 1 year anniversary of when I started this blog! Hoorah!). This should be possible, as I’ve got 3 major breaks from school in that time (Thanksgiving, Winter, and Mid-Winter) which will give me a lot of time to work.

The reason I want to have season one done by then is -- and there will be more details on this to come -- I’ve found a co-writer! There’ll be an official announcement soon, once we’ve both had a chance to finish our own projects and iron out what each of our roles will be, but I’m very excited about this development.

Until then, I hope you’ll continue to pardon my very unreliable posting schedules. I shall inform all of you once “Scandal” is in the revision stages. I’ll also in the meantime be working on reorganizing the main blog page to make it more navigate-able.

As an apology for not having episode 4 completed in the time frame I’d promised, here’s the opening scene! More updates to come in today’s Sunday Update (yes, there will be one!)

Hello everyone!

I have some mildly sad news to report. Episode 4 will not be released today. I thought I would be able to cram in some quality writing time in the last week and a half, but Sunday through Wednesday of this last week I was out on the Olympic Peninsula with my fellow teachers and all 38 of my 4th and 5th grade students. Camping. In the woods.

I swear it was more fun than it sounds.

After all that was over, I was thrown headfirst into planning a fractions unit (I went to art school for a reason, people). And I came out to the world yesterday as gender fluid/bisexual. Suffice it to say, Episode 4 is not ready for public release as of yet. And I missed last week’s Sunday Update.

The more I delve into writing this show, the more I realize I’m not going to be able to balance my life and bringing this forth into creation. What I need more than anything at the moment (and what I’ve really wanted since I started all this) is a co-writer -- someone to bounce ideas off of, someone who is passionate about this show and what it represents, and someone who has a distinctly different perspective than my own. If you consider yourself a writer and you would like to send me samples of your work, feel free to do so.

All that said, I hope (hope HOPE) that Episode 4 will be ready for release by next Sunday. If not, you have my honor as a former Girl Scout that it will come the Sunday after that.

Hey all! As I am wont to do from time to time, I neglected a Sunday update for the last two weekends in part because there is little to report and also I’ve been in the midst of parent/teacher conferences at my school. Never fear! We are still on track for a release of episode 4 (which I am tentatively tentatively titling “A Scandal in Belltown”) more because of the inspiration it takes from “Scandal in Bohemia” than that actually being a good title. After it’s up for you all to enjoy, I will happily call for title suggestions.

Long term talk for a second -- this project is still very much alive even though updates are slow and there’s little content being produced. I want to have a full season written by next summer to make it more attractive to people to want to pitch in on. I initially envisioned 6 episodes for a season one arc (which is still doable) though I know think it might stretch out to 8. So these next few months will be dedicated to building a following for the project and sharing episode scripts. After that, we may either start pushing the production route much harder or we may draft future seasons.

On a side note, I’m also working on a novel (also femlock based) on the side. That’s more of a personal project, but if I ever choose to share, you can look for that over on my main @sherlockgayaturgy.

Hey everyone! Hope you all are well! I actually have a couple of things to report this Sunday! Here they are!

1.) The script for “The Red Circle” is now live and available for your reading enjoyment. Apologies for the later than anticipated release -- the finishing touches were still going on it. It’s also, more than the other two scripts released so far, very much a work in progress document. There will be edits made in the coming weeks, but I felt comfortable releasing it as-is for the time being. Any major changes will be announced on this blog.

2.) Because future scripts largely have not yet been drafted, only outlined, I will need the entire month free to dedicate to writing them. That means that going forward, “The Science of Deduction” podcast will be put on hiatus until further notice. This means the next full content release that we have scheduled is one month from today, on Sunday October 15th. That episode has yet to be titled, but will loosely be based on the events of “A Scandal in Bohemia” and “The Beryl Coronet.”

Finally uploaded a new episode of “The Science of Deduction” today! Check it out if you haven’t already.

ALSO stay tuned two weeks from today, September 17th -- we’ll be releasing the script for episode 3 of 2213, “The Red Circle.” It’s going to be a wild ride! And I can promise the introduction of two major characters from canon, though they have never been portrayed the way we’re portraying them in this show, I can guarantee!

And as a final note, I wanted to add that it feels SO GOOD to be working on this project regularly again. Thank you for all your continued support -- this is a long and often frustrating journey we’re on, and I’m excited to see where this project goes.
