touchy-feely cube(documentation)
After reading the brief, this mind map is create form the requirement of programming the cube.
Bubble wrap- Characteristic
Plastic, round smooth texture, light weight transparent.
Material not chosen: structure easily damage,
inner circuit will be easily in view not visually appealing.
Transparent, vanilla scent, squishy, sticky
Material not used- to built a (6x6x6)cm cube,
a container must be used to hold the material, this
defeats the purpose of using Jelly/Gel-Candle.
This is used as final material:
comes with texture, builds up a firm structure,
visually appealing with the variety of vibrant color it will look
better after the installing of the ultra bright white LEDs.
Problems When building the Structure
having the thoughts that light will be able to pass through via the gaps in between the beads but thats not the ideal amount of light passing through as the different spacing between beads made the light emitted uneven.
Solution : every "2nd" bead will be removed. Thus this ensure the equality of light that will pass out from the cube and the bonus of this is that nice repeating pattern of shadow will be casted.
however solving the light problem another occurred. Dimension of the cube i tried to flatten the side assuming that everything will be in right dimension. However i was wrong not only that the dimension was wrong, the structure itself ain't sturdy.
(top and bottom) (sides) (example)
using this method, beads can "interlock" and firm support given.
first did a sketch after the circuit layout is taught.
After that used fritzing sofware to double confirm the connections
Laying out the physical structure
instead of soldering the wires directly to the board, a (plug?) is used this allows me to have a cleaner circuit layout.
orange, green, white wires(+)-->pwn 9,10,11
the negative points are merged using a metal wire connected with a grey wire . This grey wire will bring the ground point to the layout above so that it can be connected to the arduino.
Problems faced: LED break before i can solder and light "spoiled" that i have to replace it.
Positive point contact with metal wire, short circuit. Solution: coated the positive sides of LEDs with a layer of nail polish.
Faced Challenges on coding, as i did not paid much attention on building them from pervious assignment. However tried on the coding initial tries allows 1/0 to be traced however the light did not on according to 1/0/.
