fypjTWO - Sinfonique 2011
One of my Final Year Project 2 i did the Publicity prints for
Nanyang Polytechnic Symphony Orchestra.
Client : Student Development Assistant Manager.
Project period: 24 April 2011 - 20 May 2011
Initially the objective of the concert was about
reaching out to high school musicians and raising
fund for the Tsunami disaster that happened to Japan
early this year.
Thus i proposed some designs below
However after the student Assistant Manager had a meeting with the board. They feel that the main objective of the concert shall be a out reach concert to high school. However me understanding the performing pieces consist mostly of Japanese songs and some song like An American Elegy that's about columbine massacre and encouraging people to move on. Thus taking into consideration of the
admin and musicality side i proposed my second set of design.
After research, these are what i think what japan is about graphically.
Shrine, flower and serenity however... all was destroyed by the cruel
tsunami. After taking into consideration of my findings, i decided on
minimalist style. As definitely taking the disaster into consideration,
it's not a event to celebrate but yet we want to bring out the beauty
of the night NYPSO gonna present. Thus i did my first draft for approval.
the "client" is very happy with the overall style.
And specifically loves how i wanted to bring out the message.
However She hopes that the Schools Name
Will Be BIG.
Thus i did some refinement.
This time round i added the logos, as previously the client hope that the logo will be BIG and highly visible thus i placed them at the top and relatively big. secondly i added musical notes into the art work as reviewing on my findings, event thought it wasn't a event for celebration but the event is about healing the hearts with music.... so there should be some movement in the art work. Even though this design is approved but i
that the typography is a huge disaster thus i tried to the client wants and made some changes.
After this style is approved, i created the publicity/ stage banner, ticket and pamphlet for the event.

As the respective school are only able to provide small resolution logo
to me and the NYPSO wanted all prints to send in by the noon thus i have
only 3 hours to vector each logo.
These are the approved designs. However Due to budget constrain, the
client hope that i could Re-design a one sided a5 pamphlet.
First i gave a try on landscape orientation by "throwing" the front and back
of the original pamphlet into one.
However everything seems so cramp up, and i have no idea what to
focus on. Thus i took reference on post card design. A small card
allow a lot of information to be contain within at ease.
Thus the final designed for the client.
