2026 Hetgem Tournament

Hello, everyone! It's the moment you've all been waiting for—the 2026 Hetgem Tournament Poll! This is going to be simple: fill in the form with up to THREE (3) of your favorite m/f ships, and at the end of one month on May 14, 2026, the form will close. After that, I'll be announcing our entrants and we'll get to starting :3

Now, I do have some... backups, in case this doesn't pan out the way I want. For now, I'll be having a minimum of 2 votes for an entrant. Meaning, even if an entrant is in the top 64, but has less than 2 votes, they won't be counted to the initial roster.

In any case, though! I wanted to share the results from the Interest check, just to be transparent on what the final rules will look like :3 I didn't get a big number (22) but hey, at least I know how some people feel!

Question 1: Curated Selection or Polled Contestants?

Should the ships included to face off against each other be polled from the masses, so it can be based on popularity, or should I pick 64 ships that I think are great?

People like voting, what can I say?

Question 2: Should it be limited to one ship per IP?

Megabrands such as Disney, Marvel, and DC would not count as a single IP.

To be fair, I think multiple ships from the same IPs are going to be butting heads that much!

Question 3: What tournament bracket do you think should be followed?

Below is an image of the proposed tournament bracket, where after the 3rd leg, 8 different wildcard entries of the organizer's choosing are introduced for a special quarter finals. These are meant to spice up the tournament and encourage discussion, highlighting lesser known or forgotten hetgem ships given how common it is in media.

I'm gonna be honest, I have 0 idea how to reconcile this chat LMAOOO. Right now, the stronger case is for the bracket to not have wildcards. As funny as I think it would be to have them, having the whole tournament wholly be made of the people's choice is also pretty compelling. If you'd like to make your case, please do so in this post's replies or reblogs! I'd love to hear them.

With that, I'm officially announcing that the submission form for the tournament will be open on Wednesday, April 15! It'll run for one month, closing on May 14th. I'll be posting the full rules that I have in mind for the tournament as well to ensure it's fun and smooth ^0^

Hello!! There's no easier way to do this so I'll just start: this is the blog for the hetgem tournament, hosted because I was bored and unemployed.

Right now, I don't actually know how interested people might be, so upon recommendation from a friend, I made a little form for people to answer so they can give some input on how it should be run! It also helps me gauge how many people are interested (outside of like. notes and rbs on this post ofc)
