I'm Back - heyyy!
So... it's been a whirlwind, and I'm back to share what I'm up to, talk through the ups and downs, and connect with all of you amazing ppl.
This year I hit - 100K NET WORTH. fUCk. But also that's just the beginning.
I started a new business, and am really working hard at it.
I'm still working my full-time job, although planning a transition soon.
And I am here to bring constant affirmations to every bad bihh still on Tumblr.
AFFIRMATIONS FOR BOSS BABES:
1. I am a top performer.
2. Deals and closings constantly flow to me.
3. I attract clients who are eager, reasonable, and co-operative.
4. Everything is an opportunity open to my energy.
Read 10; Everyday Chaos: the mathematics of unpredictability
Loved this. So interesting and such a good read. Easy to follow and peaks interest into other topics.
Covers weather, markets, nature, space, etc.
Highly recommend !
Read 9: Beyond Mindfulness
Okay, this is your guide. Definitely read, and for me re-read. I'm handing this one off to my mother next and after that my partner.
It is a guide for meditation with the purpose of enlightenment. It is extremely insightful, and helpful for the average person who isn't seeking the enlightenment of nirvana and freedom from this form, but rather incorporation into daily life.
12 thumbs up.
(My little reviews are getting shorter, as I just focus on reminding myself what books were impactful)

Read 8: A Thousand Splendid Suns
Impactful. Incredibly so. It is an exceptional telling of the story of two women, how their stories intertwine, and the role they play in each other's lives. The way it is told, incorporating their childhoods becoming their adulthoods, filling the story with factual pain. This story is a truly empowering story because you are exposed to what would be a real experience for a woman, whether her story is one that ends with all the wrongs being righted or not.
1. Truly educational to understand the story of Afghanistan. For women, for the country, for all people.
2. An emotional story filled with the pain that truly happens for many people. What is the role of abuse, violence, trauma, and insecurity in the mind/life of a person. We watch it shape and change an individual to be subjected to constant fear, - is it right of me to say fear? my perception is that the fear is what shapes rather than the violence itself.
3. Underlying messages that are truly significant for life: the role of judgment and our entitlement in judging, the feelings of purpose in life, the perception of betrayal, the way we survive - manage pain, rather than face it, admit it, accept it.
A (of many) thoughts that came up for me in reading this: suffering has purpose, but only truly personal suffering, suffering for others is meaningless and acts as a barrier, but a barrier to what? Release from suffering would be my first thought, that you cannot be free of your suffering until you face it.
Main takeaway: injustice is real and occurring, vengeance does not resolve it. An attempt at resolution has often been destruction or vengeance, rather than resolution. Is resolution even possible? And if not, what becomes the logical next step?

Read 7: Erich Fromm El Miedo a La Libertad - Fear of Freedom
Psychology: originally in german, reading it in spanish.
Okay. Super interesting - so far (I'm at the start) very much so about man being shaped by society and society shaping man, ie. why was the Renaissance man so much more interested in fame than the Middle Ages man, and look at us now and our obsession with fame.
Interesting concept: how humans adapt - he mentions a son that does as his father wishes because he fears his father and in a sense being a disappointment, and when he adapts due to this, is rewarded and called a good boy. We are shaped very much so by our infancy but Fromm questions what the limits to our adaptations our, and because they seem not rigid and rather flexible, then are they true to our human nature, wouldn't the things that are truly inflexible be the definition of our nature? I am very interested in how he links in things like sexual deviance and how it isn't our nature but rather an adaptation (my understanding). Also it seems these adaptations driven by a need to belong, and in fear of isolation - moral/emotional isolation are the first point of the fear of freedom.
Freedom is a double-edged sword. Our awareness of consciousness/existence makes us aware of ourselves as separate from others and nature, which pushes us to require purpose or thus admit our insignificance (this submission makes us feel safe) - purpose is attached to a sense of belonging rather than own individuality. Personally, I think suffering comes from the feeling of alone-ness, but its the embodiment of our true and sole self that gives us freedom from suffering.
Concepts:
SO many interesting concepts, I highly recommend this.
Points I enjoyed:
-Connection between identifying our individual self through our ability to dominate objects/ppl we identify as separate to ourselves. Reaffirms something for us? If things can belong to us, we can identify that there is an "us" to be aware of. The moment for a child that they realize they are, (and that there are consequences to being and owning) and not just as being same with the universe. Is our spiritual journey moving toward the place where we again are one - total release of I? Is this freedom or submission? See thoughts below.
-We find purposes in life, of fame mainly, for whichever reason - as a direction to give meaning and cover the feelings of insignificance, or the lack of security that we feel in our relationship with ourselves and others. Purpose arguably is derived from accepting individuality, and becoming free through the love of and union with all things.
Thoughts:
-Personally releasing my need for control by letting go of my attachment to my momentary wants, ie. letting go of thought and giving myself to action that changes course. Leaning into my existence as being individual, unrelated, personal, open, just kinda there, unattachment feels like the key. Secondary thoughts would be that the feeling of unloved/alone is the attachment to suffering. Before releasing the need to be loved externally, I have to go to the place of vulnerable and unloved and give myself the emotion I need. The emotion is like the warmth and love of Jesus/God in my heart. That is the path of releasing suffering, after which I can accept that all things are love, it is not loss of the I but union with all. That feels very bodhisattva to me.
^ this has helped me welcome being out of my comfort zone, changing from lazy to willing to ready, prepared. It leaves me open for growth or constant if it comes.
Freedom is not a return to unawareness - it is full acceptance and union with the conscious as it exists in all. This is difficult, as we live in this reality we have created in our minds, and the material replaces or filters are ability to perceive and feel. We attribute emotions and all suffering through the material experience. To see past it, and find the place where "I" does not exist is an incredible ask. But it is the basis of freedom. You can get there in the material through love of all things. Deeper pursuit is at the expense of the experience of life, but potentially it is true meaning.
So many deep thoughts come with this book, so much understanding of humanity. It's truly an amazing read and I highly recommend.

Read 6: Getting Things Done
Basically a productivity book, not bad, but I do feel I already apply most of these things, helpful reminders are good though.
-Focus on outcome thinking, what is the result you want?
-What is the next physical action to get closer to ^
-Create a system (outside of your head) you trust to account for these two things. (this book will literally hold your hand through setting that up, if you don't do this already, or clearing that up if your current system is a disaster)
Stop feeling like you need to be doing all the things right now! Here:
-When something comes up immediately decide if you need to do it, delegate it or defer it. This is based on whether the item is even actionable and whether the task can be completed in under 2 minutes, that would make it a do it.
I don't know if this guy really suggests this but a new change I've made that has worked for me, is having a large to do list somewhere in my computer, on a sticky, and then having a physical paper note pad where I write Next Step at the top and only write down ONE thing i need to do, the next thing i need to do. Then I cross it out and write the next one when done. You could say I'm a guru.
Okay book:
Take aways for me: is
-I definitely get alot of those feelings, so stressed about everything I have to do, that I can't sit down to do one thing, because I feel like i need to do everything. Reducing that stress has come from what I said I've been doing, plus his tip to get it all out of your head. Feel comfortable that it's all covered and move that list (notebook, bin, etc) far away/out of sight. Begin working. Then clear that list out, every day or as often as the items are meant for, empty it out.
Also personal tip, know that you can do things RIGHT AWAY, there's actually nothing stopping you. Just get that thing done immediately. Don't delay righting that 45second email.
Other takeaways:
-plans are for projects not for actions. The action is the plan.
-ask yourself why you're doing something, literally everything - esp when you can't get the motivation to do it.
-brainstorming is freethinking - don't judge just do it, evaluate and challenge later
-keep lists separate, when they have to do with separate groups/teams, etc.
-get in control of the little things, so you can feel comfortable about working on the big things, big things won't matter or be executed if not.
-"priority" is not the solution
-writing a to-do list means writing down a clear next action (in case you write down "stuff" instead of actions)
Cool thing he wrote to think about: if you dont know what you want
1. Make it up
2. Make it happen
^love that.
So conclusion: FOR ME this book wasn't too helpful, because I do almost all of these things or better things that work for me. But it was a helpful reminder of releasing the impact of stress on productivity and just doing the things. I got that from the first 30 pages or so, didn't need too much more. I'd recommend if you're really in disarray tho, or you need beginner's manifestation, (this book talks about outcome thinking a lot and focus/visualization).

Read 5: The Four Agreements
Holy shit this will change your life. Also if you understand the world, in the sense that we are all one being, that energy and consciousness are the only real things. This is the "self-help" book for you. So many incredible lessons. Here are the notes:
Be impeccable with your word: you are speaking into existence what is. Do not self-judge, do not self-abuse with your words and thoughts. Be truthful, and be clear.
Do not take anything personally: neither the good nor the bad. Everyone is living their own dream, and only they influence that.
Do not make assumptions: you don't know what someone is thinking, you do not know if they are being truthful because even they lie to themselves. And do not assume anyone knows what you are thinking. Communicate clearly and ask questions.
Do your best: love your self. that is life. do your best truly. but do not judge yourself when you do not.
Be patient adoption of a new way of life, and overriding all the agreements you have made with yourself through years of life does not happen over night. But each day is a step. This is where your new dream begins.
Start. (This is the way to true personal freedom - I'm realizing this journey is more about freedom then any other "self-growth")

Read 4: Veinte Poemas de amor y una cancion desesperada, Pablo Neruda
Read this one today in spanish as well. This one came years before he met Matilde, who inspired the 100 sonnets. The difference is so stark. He knew love, but it wasn't earth-shaking, soul-shattering, intense. In fact, some of it was quite sad, it was like a longing for a love that hurts, or maybe knowing a love that is lost, or not to be.
I still liked it, but not the same. It is wonderful, and thoughtful, and i highly recommend it, but it isn't exciting, rather pensive. Especially his comparison of love to death, just constantly throughout. Lot's to think about here. Love, but never the same way twice. < that's F. Scott :D
Date: February 21, 2021 - 9:45pm.
Read 3 (although this is a reread): Cien Sonetos de Amor, Pablo Neruda
Read this in spanish, but english is out there. So beautiful, to see how someone loved, to feel some of it personally, to relate to a couple who lived once, as part of you because they shared love in the way you share it today with someone.
It is so beautiful to read the words, and feel the feelings because of his words, whether or not you've felt love before in the same way. I recommend this one, or even just a few of the sonnets that are most popular. Reminds me how much I love my elected soul mate, and how I will choose his soul in every life, lucky me. :)
I like to write notes when I read, so this one is now filled with little messages.

Read 2 (but rlly read 1): Tuesday's at Morrie's
I forgot I read this in Jan. It's a beautiful story, about a man who's professor is diagnosed with ALS, and the amazing attitude he faces the end of his life with. It's another story that messages how to face life while you are still alive, not just when death becomes clear. An interesting take away was (paraphrased), "we all will die, death is inevitable, but somehow none of us believe that" - we aren't living like death is inevitable, like each day counts, like there's opportunity in all the moments. And we aren't remembering that those around us will also die. Not only does the book show us how death can inspire life. But also how ALS/terminal illness can impact those around you, and what it can leave behind.
Reminder here: it is never too late, for forgiveness, for action, for life. Continue learning the lessons, and continue to be good in your heart, to your heart. Don't fear death, if anything, fear not living.
I highly recommend, whether you know someone struggling with a terminal illness, specifically ALS, or if you're looking for a reminder of purpose in a simple and impactful way.
Date: Sometime in January.
Read 1: How to Win Friends and Influence People in the Digital Age
Loved this. This is what has me re-inspired to read and better myself. This recurring theme in ~therapy~ for me has been relearning the ways I react to things not going my way. This book is all about that, about approaching things with friendliness, an interest in finding common ground, and kindness and encouragement, seeing the potential in others and expressing your genuine belief in them as a way for both of you to grow and achieve your goals. More importantly I think, it is about the environment where mistakes are okay, actually they are good, and being empathetic is actually the winners strategy.
I see how this can be applied in all facets of life, not just business/leadership. It's about how you market your business, or your personality, in so many ways. It's also about the way i want to raise my children, by building them up, and not criticizing, but growing together. This environment where not only are mistakes good but they know that they are their potential, and that potential is limitless. Where they want to communicate where they feel like they are failing and we can together get to a plan for success/fulfillment.
Anyway, not only do I recommend this book, but I think I'll be gifting it from now on.

2019 Reading List
To improve myself in every aspect, I’ll be reading (at least) a book a week for the next four months:
PSYCHOLOGY:
√ The Happiness Advantage
√ Thinking Fast, and Slow
√ Blink (read in 2017 but refresher needed)
LITERATURE:
√ Metamorphoses, Ovid (Book 1)
√ Metamorphosis
√ Beowulf
√ Utopia
FINE ART:
√ Poetics
√ The Lives of the Artists
√ Art and Illusion
BUSINESS:
√ Tax Free Wealth
√ Rich Dad, Poor Dad
STRATEGY:
√ Start with Why (the best book on this list for starting a business and understanding marketing/loyalty development. HIGHLY recommend) (did I emphasize my recommendation enough?? Read this NOW)
√ Art of Seduction (refresher)
√ Art of War (refresher) (made jot notes and I’m going to start reading them weekly! Such a good strategy book, timeless)
√ The Prince
√ Geisha: A Life
√ The Elements of Style (must read! I know a lot about sentence structure and I still learned a few things. Super applicable to corresponding, bio writing, ads, etc)
√ How to Win Friends and Influence People
JUST FOR FUN:
√ A Brief History of Time
√ The Universe in a Nutshell (did I understand this fully? no. was it super interesting? yes. It goes in hard on theories compared to A Brief History, so I feel like its not necessary if you just wanted the civ’s guide to the Universe)
X The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck (did not like this at all, didn’t even finish it, read chapters throughout hoping it would get better, pretty much thought it was crap all the way around.)
√ The Secret (refresher, because this is my approach to life)
This was 2019.
Alright, change is a-coming.
Going back to the roots of why I started this tumblr.
SELF-IMPROVEMENT
PERSONAL GROWTH
BRAIN EXERCISE.
One of my most interacted with posts was my reading list, where I read like 26 books in 4 months, and did small takeaways from each. This was 2019. 2 years later, and I'm revamping. I'm going to be reading books and creating these notes for myself. The notes are going to be life lessons, maybe related to being a good parent, a good human, good to yourself, or good for business. The subject matter will be everything.
I told myself this year I would keep a journal, and I guess the internet is it.
But this tumblr is now and officially a self-growth ONLY zone. Follow me or just tune in if you're interested in seeing and please please send me ideas for books and activities.
