They believed they had encountered every horror imaginable. After facing countless demon beasts and vanquishing monstrous foes, they thought nothing could be more terrifying. Yet, here she stood, the first of the sword saints, confronting a malevolence unlike any other. Before her loomed Lady Greed, a sinister figure who ensnared men as if they were mere puppets, subjecting them to torment and presenting them as devoted servants to her dark empire.

A sword saint was sworn to uphold life, not to take it.

But in this moment, the necessity was undeniable; the white-haired woman had to be stopped. The sight of her hands on him ignited a fury within, knowing she had inflicted unimaginable pain. All she had done was elevate the one who had caused them so much suffering, offering little more than a façade of care. They could not alleviate the anguish that festered inside; they could only help if asked, and they would never act without consent. Even in the face of overwhelming temptation, they would remain steadfast, refusing to wield their powers to alter fate.

What a beautiful sentiment to express. Nestled in the secluded gardens, a sanctuary untouched by the outside world, she cradled him gently in her lap, her fingers weaving through his hair like a soft breeze.

“You are a beacon of light; all I can perceive is your inherent goodness.”

Thoughts of their past eluded them, the memories of others like them fading into the background, overshadowed by the significance of their own journey. As she took his hand and lifted it, her fingers glided through the vibrant strands of crimson hair, her eyes momentarily widening in surprise. There were no walls, no defenses to shield her; she embraced the moment, yearning for it to unfold. With her eyes closed, she leaned into his touch, allowing her hand to explore and become lost in the depths of his fiery locks.

“I’ve never known fear in my life; they say a sword saint is beyond such feelings, but in that instant, I felt it…” In that fleeting moment, a wave of terror washed over her, the fear of losing the one person who meant everything to her. “I was terrified that I might lose you.”

“It’s weird. I never thought I could feel like this, but you showed up. Now, it’s like I don’t wanna go on knowing I might lose the feeling.”

“I don’t mind sharing the blankets with you.”
