At six in the evening, a parade begins near the town’s clock tower. Accompanied by a brass band, basket makers and festival participants walk slowly through the streets.

After the parade, the opening ceremony takes place in the town square, followed by music, local beer, and the lively atmosphere of the festival night.

Inside you can see the tools used by basketmakers, distinctive slanted worktables, bundles of willow, and baskets that reflect the craft tradition of the region.

Before traveling north by ICE train, we walked through the city at dawn, camera in hand.
